I think it's really fun to overdramatize the meaning of artworks, so here's my take on the first artwork. This painting perfectly encapsulate the beauty of earth and the artist's desire of seeing this view once more. The scratchy clouds are portrayal of the artist's fear of leaving earth and starting a new life above the clouds and away from home. However, these clouds could also be seen as the artist forgetting how clouds look after years of not seeing them from below, only having the distorted look of them from space as his reference. I think the black paint covering half of the image is the most impacting part of this painting. It represents how space is taking over his life and his mind. The beautiful memories of life in earth replaced by the loneliness of space and the thought that nothing here matters, thought that HE doesn't matter. "Take me home" he says....home to where things matter to him, home......where he matters.
