Just combine that with Graham's blood-curdling scream, Alexander's cartoonish waving bye-bye at the player, and the twenty or so somersaults performed by any early Sierra characters, and we'd have one masterpiece of a death-fall.

Someone should cut all those together to the tune of "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You."

The comic timing after Roger died in the cogs was gold (SQIII). Also, the debug mode in SQ6 was weirdly charming.
@spacequesthistorian6 жыл бұрын
Haha! There were a couple of fortuitous timings in this one. The Roger-in-the-cogs was one; the other was when I said "what might *befall* you" right before the meteor hit him (some serendipitous on-the-spot choice of words).

That Space Quest 3 death.. definitely laughed out loud at that. Too funny! Great job on the video as usual, tremendous work.

Really enjoyed it! I love the enthusiasm! There was a whole lot of effort put in this to show everything! Also I'm pretty sure, that he repeating falling-sound from SQ4 drives people insane! =D Good thing that I already lost my mind years ago so I'm pretty much immune! xD Looking forward to next tuesday as usual!

Yup, that sound effect is ... loud, isn't it? :) Fortunately, I have grown immune to it from years and years of playing this game.

I know Akril covers it, but you could have shown the "officer toasting" animation for SQ5

Do you mean cooking Beatrice in the cryo-chamber? 'Cos I totally did that in my SQ5 playthrough series. :)

Space Quest Historian I mean this one. I forgot she thought it was someone using a squeegee. It looks like someone raising a glass in a toast to me. www.akril15.com/sr/sq5huh.gif

I am shocked and a bit embarrassed to say that I've never seen that before. What is that?
@redshirtveteran56886 жыл бұрын
Space Quest Historian Akril didn't know either, but I presume it was animation test for filming Roger's body. Check your SQ5 files, you'll find it with the viewer. : )

You did show the alternate Arnoid death, you showed both. It's in part II at the 15 minute mark.

Haha, thanks. Yes, I noticed that when I was looking back at the SQ3 playthrough recently to find some clips. Oh well. Should have checked back then but, eh, it's in the past. 😅

Now this is the SQ4 I remember when I first played - getting chased by the SP on Estros. SQ4 was so frustrating by being perpetually hounded (and subsequently killed). I might need to give SQ4 for Mac a try under SCUMM and see if I can FINALLY get past the Skate-o-Rama scene.

Hehehe, nice. I also would touch Bea's Pod (yeah, that does sound weird) repeatedly to, it just seemed something Roger, or Adrienne, would do - "is it still blisteringly hot? Yep!". I wish there was a gag like that on the Eureka, so that you could do it sporadically throughout the game.

I swear I've done the falling into the water one. I'll try and recreate it.
@spacequesthistorian6 жыл бұрын
I swear I've done it, too! I just can't seem to get him to do it now. Maybe I could only do it because of a timer bug? Please let me know if you can make it happen.
@MagusMarquillin6 жыл бұрын
Maybe a disk version only thing? But if you use it to escape the sequel police, then it wouldn't be, because they don't show up there.

You can put the laser cutter back at any time, you left out a death you could've easily done.

I tried, but he wouldn't do it! I tried putting it back in the closeup of the toolbox and in the middle section screen.

Hey, I didn't know that your crew would beam you right to the warp room to fix it - I just assumed there was a hilarious death where you try to escape and can't and the game berates you for being an idiot, I would have checked it out but for the length of time it would take. This way is kind of better; not only does it have some unique animation of Roger running up the stairs (and especially sliding back down - LOL) but it kind of makes more sense to not enable the warp before you go wandering around in the ducts, and come back up to find Xenon half mutated.
@spacequesthistorian6 жыл бұрын
If this were SQ4, it would probably have just killed him outright. :) I had forgotten about Roger's dumb running/sliding-down-the-banister animations, though. Those were fun.
@ceelist6 жыл бұрын
Personally I prefer the gear crushing death more than the alien eating death for the Arnoid robot. However, if I recall, the alien eating death gives slightly more points. Also, I can't recall if you tried this already in SQ4, but one of my favourite Gary Owens line deliveries is when you try to lick the sequel policeman corpse in the bird's nest in SQX.
@spacequesthistorian6 жыл бұрын
I do believe the pod-eating death gives you more points because you have to use the Orat-on-a-Stick to retrieve his belt. Also, I distinctly remember licking the Sequel Policeman's corpse in my original playthrough. :)

I do want to explore the resource viewer, I'm sure it's majorly educational about adventure game creation. I wonder how hard it would be to add many of those animations and click responses back into the game - surely it would make it much less shallow and half-assed towards the end. Maybe it's nye impossible without the release of the source code, but didn't NewRisingSun do something similar for his patches of the earlier SCI games, without the aid of source code? Is he just an uncommon genius, or has nobody else bothered with it?
@spacequesthistorian6 жыл бұрын
I haven't the faintest idea how NewRisingSun did it. I know the old games were reverse-engineered by hackers (for instance, fan-made Russian translations went in and changed graphics, etc.). SQ6 uses a different version of SCI than SQ4, though, so I don't know if it's possible.

watching the cliff-diving sequence, I imagined your wife walking past with a mug of tea and looking into the room and asking something like, 'It's getting late, are you almost done?' YOU: No, i'm throwing myself off a cliff over and over in order to escape some killer robots. HER: ... does that save you? YOU: no, i keep dying HER: and how long have you been doing this? YOU: ... um, around 45 minutes? HER: ... good luck with that it made me laugh, anyway
