Ok I know how this could be done, imagine like a freighter from no mans sky almost, it has like a frame and holds those orbs on its sides like it would cargo, so it could carry like 6 maybe and it can warp so it would be the orbs transport, you’d end up with a total of 600 drones

You can also have each drone with parachute and drill - so as they try to follow players through solid rock, they actually drill the way for themselves into peoples bases - like a 1000 different ants burrowing in. (the chute is to *auto-deploy* just maybe 10-20m *above* ground so they drill slowly and don't break *themselves* )

Add a front bumper to the drones (a small wheel) this way when they charge a target, the wheel will break (dealing high impact damage) but the warhead will survive long enough to detonate. It should also help reduce the damage they deal to themselves when moving at low speed directly out of the drone bay.

@@davidpodeszwa7010 scripts like DDS have the ability to spray n pray in these situations. basically imagine 12 turrets with 16 gattlings each spraying this swarm. they wouldnt stand a chance. and it can also launch missiles at the largest grid it sees, meaning that his orb would be defenceless

@@dominatorandwhocaresanyway9617 Yes, gatling turrets are op :) I still believe the warhead with a sensor that you launch into the swarm easily kills everything in a 30meter radius and looks cooler, but i tried to do it yesterday with a piston jolt gun but before the sensor detects the actual drones, the warhead has already flied past them. But to be honest, I am not the best space engineer

- You can setup a *timer* block which *auto-locks* the rotors so you don't have to manually do it = press one button and everything deploys itself (so you can focus more on piloting) - You have a *timer* to drop *50%* of these drones first, and then the other *50%*, so they don't *all* drop at once creating *lag* and destroying *themselves* - You can also have each drone with parachute and drill - so as they try to follow players through solid rock, they actually drill the way for themselves into peoples bases - like a 1000 different ants burrowing in. This is sooo creative and innovative, amazing player created weapon:) Maybe instead of bombs attach tiny turrets ? Or maybe make them slightly bigger (and have like 20% less of them) and give them drills, so they can burrow through mountains and into player bases ? (could use parachutes that auto deploy last minute to slow them down as they begin to tunnel so they dont break the drills)

Back when I was planning on getting into Space Engineers I was inspired by your drone faction to have a series different categories and levels for different vessels. This is similar to an idea I had for Drone D4C (Dropper 4, Colonizer), or Dac, a Dropper category, Dreadnought level drone that would crash onto the surface of a planet, and then act as a control base as it dispersed several combat and scavenger category drones. Of course, I quickly became to occupied with other projects in both real-life and other games to make it, but it was fun to think about. Edit: Of course, this is also more of a RP concept than functional. XD

Somethings you could do to improve it, is you could set up a timer where they release one at a time but in rapid succession. And if you set up a auto welder system so when you close the wings it would made a new swarm. Hope this helped a bit but thing is super cool! I can't wait to see what y'all do with it

So one thing i think might help with drone deployement. Move you ship downward with your bottom pointed at your target. Accelerate towards them, arm and fire then deaccelerate so that the drones maintain your momentum and get a speed boost before tracking.

That's pretty cool. I would really like to see a weapon like this get deployed in Colony Wars, if you guys ever do a new series in the future. I think it might be better if you had them all launch in a row instead of all at once so they don't hit each other so much. Maybe have one launch and the next one beside it launches in like 0.25 to 0.5 secs from the one before it. Like a bomber carpet bombing an enemy base. Also what you guys might be able to do about making them blowup on impact is script them to have an Inertial Fuse. How you could do this is by scripting each drone to track it's speed, and if the speed drops a very large number in a very small time frame it self-destructs. If it is moving at like 100m/s and runs nose first into a ship it's speed should drop to 0. If that happens within maybe 0.1 to 0.25 secs it self-destructs. You of course don't want to make the Inertial Fuse too sensitive so that it can still slow down and turn around if it misses the target on the first pass. But you want to make it sensitive enough that even if it hits a ship or station at an angle that slows it down but not stops it completely it will still detonate. So some testing would be needed but I think that would be the best way to make them blowup on target. I also noticed many of them getting stuck on the station at the end of the video. You might also be able to script it so if it's speed stays to low or at 0 for X number of secs, it self-destructs. That way even if it doesn't slow down suddenly enough to set off the Inertial Fuse, it will just blowup if it gets trapped on a station and can't move anymore.

Hey, I think your Idea is really great, I've actually had a similiar one. I've managed to create a drone that could fit 6 warheads in it, all the neccessary stuff and still made it go through a double door. I think that you could try making your drones smaller as well, then you can have a lot more explosives in them(also more drones in the carrier). The downside is that they are a little less armored.

To clean up the deployment of the drones you could rotate the ship or the doors to face the target so they are not changing direction and colliding with each other. other wise you could write a script that staggers there deployment, it would take longer to deploy the batch but it would be a cleaner deployment.

So I had a build similar to this I would fire from my ship, the deployment module (carrier) of the drones to create a shield, and the drones had decoys and grinders. If your wondering, the point of having this on my flagship, I could send one after another flagship and fighters behind the shield. The guns would be busy with the drones and any manually operated weapons will have to get through the shield. Enemy ships will have to avoid the drones and friendly fire before they even get to my ships that are protected by what I called a hive missile. Haven't played this game for a while.. Might start up again soon, still like your content tho.
