What i'm more curious about SE2 is the resources! - How the resources are going to work within the game? - There will be more easy solution for repairs? Imagine having an entire area detailed to the grim and after a combat phase you have to figure it out where the air is leaking? - What about the welder, grinder and drill?

As far as I could understand there will be no welding or grinding. Everything is gonna be like creative, just with ressources. So blocks will bust pop in and out. No block staging at all 🤷♂️

For the creative, is pretty neat to have just a paint brush to create stuff without the worry for "cost". But i guess KSH want to test how their engine will handle the stupidness of the player's creation. There will be a wide of monter-creation in Workshop on Phase 2.

I think people are gonna be a little antsy (myself included) until the survival update so hopefully it doesnt take too long. I imagine the workshop slices will go by sorta quick since I feel like those tools and systems were already being worked on in the background while setting up SE2 but the rest of the slices its anyone's guess.

More interaction with npcs in general would be great. Taking bases from the enemy, defending a friendly hideout or convoy. Taking resources somewhere so friendlies can establish a base. Lots of possibilities

The concept behind prototech and the Factorum faction is actually great. If they could expand upon this in SE2 with multiple factions having unique blocks it would make the world way more interactive. Friendly factions that you could trade for their factions components/blocks or even steal and earn bad reputation with them if you go that route and make them hostile. Would make the world feel much more interesting and alive and give a reason to explore. Having factions on specific planets would give you a reason to visit specific ones if you need special types of components or blocks. You could even have the factions scale a bit. Early on you can build Basic faction blocks with basic components like we have the Basic Assembler and Refinery that are cheap for early game and then once you accumulate recourse you can get advanced versions later game that are more expensive to acquire.

i do hope with water we get hydropower plant options i love building dams in games with volumetric water and this game looks perfect for it. Maybe even drain a lake and build inside the emptied lake and then destroy the dam for a awesome flood. Or redirect rivers and lakes to make place for buildings etc. I do hope we get a planet rounding building option which will take the round shape of the planet in calculations and options to paint roads on voxels

Sounds like now is the right time for KSH to hire a few people like Digi, Splitsie, Mexpex, Aryx, Ash-Likesnow, Draygokorvan, Bricklemore, Aidylheid and a few other modders... Or at least integrate some of their mods from the workshop into the base game... Having more blocks to build with that are matched to the 25cm grid system is always a good thing. Especially when it comes to low PCU armor blocks that are suitable for bigger ships.

I'm so excited to play this. Without dates I'm assuming it'll likely be another year before multiplayer is implemented, but that's okay. I don't think people realise that if Keen was to have multiplayer on launch, that would mean another year before we got to play anything at all lol. Like it'll still take the same amount of time. It almost feels like it should get a vertical slice of it's own, as I hope they build on the current system for "linked grids" as it would be nice if thrusters, wheels, etc on sub-grids could be used by the cockpit without needing scripts, the ability to make air tight seals when docking ship together and some way to connect ships that limits visibility/access to the components from one side to the other.

I’m not super concerned though as I wanted to support KEEN and as a survival player I have time to upgrade my tired hardware before I really get into it.

Honestly I think multiplayer should be the #1 or #2 because I imagine a ton of these systems and code will have to be integrated into whatever networking system gets used for the multiplayer. Also because multiplayer is a really core element of SE building is more fun if you can share it and crash it into others.

@@MrDecimus Well, yeah. SE1 is like a decade old now. It's not much of a money maker anymore. They need funds to help build SE2, and early access serves as bug testing and funding at the same time. Making SE2 isn't gonna be cheap, especially as they've grown the company from 50 to 200.

Meh. I love empyrion as well but there is no physics engine to speak of in that game... and a galaxy like that with thousands of sysytems in space engineers would... well i dont even thing that nasa has a computer to run that! Ever notice that the more you build in PCU the slower your machine and sim speed get!? Console player cant even go over 200,000 pcu in settings from what i hear... All the encounters are litteraly random spawns cuz to have a persistent background universe and NPC is such a massive simulation it would cook litteraly everything out there. I imagine the handcrafted campaign will be very oerformance demanding for everything except the very newest high end CPU... depending of course on how much simulation must be run in the background... wich is why already im excited about the new engine to be able to use more than one core!! 🤣🤣

Please keen make some type of radar system even if its maximum detection range is only 100km. Also please increase ship weapon ranges, 2,000 is dismal. You could also make ship size/shape/crosssection play a part in the radar, could also add a rare material that allows the creation of armour blocks coated in a type of radar absorbing coat. Just some ideas. Radar would be good for ultiplayer as most pvp is offline base raiding. Give us the chance to actually say orbit around a planet and have a chance of actually locating other players in transit creating random actual pvp encounters. You could balance it many way, requires insane amount of power/resource whilst in use, maybe makes one way more detectable. You could also have an EM detection system so tactics such as shutting down your ship after putting it into decoupled mode could allow someone a close escape from a preying radar user.

I appreciate that it takes time to create a good game, so please do this right and take your time. That said, I cannot justify getting the game before multi-player is available.

For me the make or break moment are the survival features. Would be nice if they managed to capture the feel of DNSK and put it in as a native (optional) feature. Especially considering there's gonna be water in the game later anyway 🙂

You won't even have an inventory at launch. No tools, no weapons, no ores, no components. Just an empty creative mode with no armor skins or any expanded blocks like we ALREADY had in SE1. It'll be years before we see survival and even longer before multiplayer. Pathetic KEEN.

Looking forward to it, but multiplayer being so far back feels a bit odd to me. I'd think after how much trouble MP gave them in SE1 they'd put a larger priority on backing it into the base.

it'll take so long. i remember seeing "major patch" notes and all they added was some different angle-blocks and windows. no clue what they're doing, but it feels like there's only one developer who only works on it 3 beers into a sunday session once a week

My only question is how we will drain bases build underwater, as in already flooded. Maybe make vent fans become pumps for air or liquid with push n pull vs decompression on/off. Would double their purpose n usefulness I reckon. Either way super excited for it.
