I would have added a merge block to the battery. Then added one to the mobile base where I want the battery. then when tex was done with the new flyer added a landing gear to the bottom. Then cut the block off the top of the battery. And then before loading the new flyer up used it to move the battery to the mobile base. And run the other base on solar panels to get the last of the things needed to move everything to the mobile base. And then broken down the rest of the old base including the solar panels and then put them on the mobile base. Looks like you finally got to that idea.

About the backups -- if you load a game from an autosave backup, SE creates a new backup directory under the autosave backup's directory. To load a backup of a backup, you have to move the selected backup's directory (date+index) from the backup's backup directory up two directory levels (to the "main" world's backup directory) so that SE can find it. Convoluted to describe, makes more sense if you look at the full directory tree. Yes, it's borked.

You should look for ''salvage-goods" under the perimeter turrets of the flight Research base. Might be of use to you now that you are building a big grid and that there is a need to power it....

I only play in survival with all realistic settings and yes you can hack the batteries without loosing the Power Cells in vanilla; uses the standard grinder and tap grind at the last 4 Construction Components so you don't remove all the computer components...

I prefer survival to build, even without a scenario. The simple reason is that it is so easy to built something that seams to work in creative but really doesn't when the stakes are a bit more realistic.

DX9 is about 15 years old so I can see why a dev would want to switch away from something very limited - like you said. You'd have to have a graphic card from 2006 or older that only supports DX9, and I'm pretty confident that card wouldn't run SE at all and that you're probably due for a very significant upgrade.

I disagree with you on the lack of structure for survival. Since the addition of planets, touring the solar system is the only reason I need and gives actually quite a bit of structure since you can't get platinum on planets. It forces you to leave. If you want to see the solar system, you don't need big fancy ships, just something that works, hence the engineering part.

you should replace the conveyor block under the connector with another small cargo container. It will increase your storage and it doesn't change anything. Really the large ship conveyor block is pointless. all it is is a six way large connector. A large ship small cargo container is a six way large connector that is also storage. And the cost is not that much for the cargo container. Some why not use them instead?
