You could put the gyros on a group and adjust the power on them based on the current cargo load. I like how the ship has turned out. Love to see it in action.

If you only need six gyros you can always turn the power down to 75% on all of them. That way you can still keep it symmetrical and only have the power of six gyros.

Neat thing about having a survival kit on the ship, is you could cue up something like 100k stone to be refined to ingots, that way any of it that gets picked up as you mine other stuff will be getting processed, (albeit very slowly) reducing your weight and volume of stored materials.

Should turn your cockpit around so you can fly the drill the space. Then upright the drill and use your cameras.

Yeah I have mixed feeling about the orientation of the cockpit 🤔. They really need to add a cockpit that rotates or something haha. I think there is a modded on like that though 😎👌

I think the MEXPEX Heavy Mining Drill mod would work well with the design of your mining ship. The modded drill is expensive in mats cost and weight, but it helps reduce drill spamming.

Interesting looking mod that one! When I post it onto the workshop you can give it a test, it does look like the 15x15 small grid drill would fit nicely too and it would look pretty cool as well 😎👌

Have you thought about using a rotor-hinge gimbal for the vertical miner, so you can drill yourself an extra wide hole and make sure you'll easily be able to get out EDIT: that would make it a fair bit easier (assuming no clang-related disasters) to safely widen your hole and target a different bit of the ore patch. without risking slamming your cockpit/batteries into the wall or worse having a hydrogen tank go off (i don't remember where you put them in the ship) I've had a lot of fun watching the series so far, thank you so much!

That's a very interesting idea! I'm gonna be honest, I'm not sure if I would be able to pull something like that off 😅😂. After using it in Episode 13 it seems to be able to handle being at quite an angle so I can drill down diagonally if I need to, I was concerned it wouldn't have the side thrust to do it but it actually works quite well 😊. so when you aded those extra drills you could have gotten the same drill radius by simply placing a central drill and then conveyored drills in each corner for a total of 5 drills and that would have made a hole bigger than your ship. Think 5 but as dots on a dice and that would have been enough.

Yeah I was avoiding putting a drill in the middle so that I could place the camera and the LCD 😎✌️Oh and also the drills themselves have a decent cargo capacity, so it kinda works in my favour having more drills 😊

Do you think you have enough drills, or do you need to add more? ;-) Looking good so far! I think I would have built the parts around the lateral thrusters a bit more "skeletal", since I prefer that look on a utility craft, but that doesn't mean this looks bad in any way. The survival kit is probably a good idea, and not just because of the respawn capability. It can let you do a bit of simple refining on the fly, which may come in handy. Maybe you could put some of those integrated light blocks _behind_ some beam blocks? I think they should shine through. You will very likely want at least some lights around the craft, for when you're mining in dark and tight places. As for colours, something I like to see on utility vehicles is yellow accents. A piece of yellow "roll bar" or some struts makes it look more authentic, or whatever you want to call it. It might clash with the gray digi-camo, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Yeah your right, the refining may come in handy one day, although I am veeeeeery tempted to replace it with an oxygen tank 🤔. Yeah I think I'm going to add some of those lights in a similar position so those thrusters 😊 I agree, yellow would suit this build nicely! I think I am going to forego the army camo on this build and do it all out of battered armor for that more industrial look 😊

place them infront off your cockpit since you got a block space left over in there for 6off those panels so you can have 1 for your power 1 for your hydrogen meter and in the middle your artifical horizon and you can also use isy's inventory script so you can see what you have in your cargo and you yout 2 free seetrough panels to decide what else you whanna see from your cockpit

Oh you mean LCD's, I was trying to figure out what you meant for a while haha. I usually just go by the weight of the ship to judge how much cargo I have, I kinda fill it all up once and then use that number to know when it is full of ore 😁👌

Put a large display in front of the miners cockpit instead of girders and feed the front camera to it

As far as I know, you can't feed a camera to a display. I believe they tried it, but the rendering killed the frame rate, or something like that.

Wonder if it's ideal to just make a vertical Miner then have cargo pods that attach/detach to offload the cargo seperate from the miner. To make it easier to mine and pilot both cargo vessel and miner.

Potentially yeah, I think once I get used to driving this thing it should be OK using it the way it is now. The only issue I could foresee with cargo pods is you have to attach/detach them as well so you may as well just use a connector :)

Consider using a few ion thrusters, you've got enough battery for it.

You you be designing a new ship to replace the atlas? Or maybe build some A.I drones to automate your base?

Yeah I mean kind of, the ship I have in mind is the Anubis but it is more of a warship that cannot land on planets 😎👌. I definitely want to investigate the AI drones more though, havent had the time to check it out 😅

hey how about an oxygen tank instead of survival kit they both have same ports and I would go with the caps on the ports something I was looking at on the new thrusters on the side at top how about turning them into ejectors just redo the piping an you can get a sorter for them But it's looking good Sir.

Yeah honestly I think I will replace the Survival kit with an oxygen tank as I now have a medical bay on the Prometheus 😎. Yeah I could change those to ejectors but I wanted it to have a reasonable amount of side thrust so i can drill at a decent angle without it sinking 😁👌

Yeah kind of, but it doesn't not have a conveyor port on the front like the vanilla one does so that's why I chose to use that one as the plumbing is a bit easier 😎✌️

Today, I've just watched all the series from the beginning all from Ep.1 till Ep.12 o.O I kind-a stop watching from episode 3 i think, I was working abroad and just got home few days ago :D I like the miner design, it's kind-a slick looking like a worm :D Also, me personally prefer the conveyor caps but in this case the stripes looks much more to the ship design and caps are not much visible as the stripes. One tip though: All I have learn during my time spent on this game (over 5K hours, like 3K on my current account and 2K+ on old one which is hacked back in 2017) is just this 3 things in general: Never spare parts, Never save resources, go BIG Anyway, keep up great channel and great content, I look forward for next episode and some Moon mining Sorry for my mistakes in grammar, English is not my native language.

For leveling, couldn't you use the AI blocks with an AI that does nothing but level you relative to planet gravity? turn it on to level it out, turn off do drill. OR even automate that part too, and just have it turn itself off when the cargo is full?

I often build large grid vertical miners in this configuration. I find it the most efficient way to mine ores fast, even in early game. One thing I have found useful when mining verticaly is a button to switch the gyros to override. I find this the best way to mine very clean holes, with little chance of colissions with the sides of the mine.

Do you have a plan for Cargo drones to travel back and forth between the miner and the base?

Yeah I would like to experiment with some drones at some stage, I think the fuel tanks on the vertical miner are too small for me to be able to fill it more than once without a re-fuel 😔. I am tempted to install another tank to be honest, but I will see how it goes with the rear thrusters disabled as they were burning a lot of my fuel I think 😅😂

Yeah it definitely will be, unfortunately it does not work on planets other than moons 😔. But I do plan to make a planetary version out of the same ship and make it run on atmospheric thrusters and batteries 😎👌

In space you use a lot of energy keeping yourself warm because it's absolute zero 😉👌. At least that is the reason I think it goes so fast, as it seems to last a bit longer on a planet.

Can't you use AI to always align the ship to gravity? Then just turn the AI block off when you don't need to be aligned to gravity.

Expecting more mining, exploration, some fight, expanding base. But only buildings ship without mining montage. If you posted every day or 2 days i can accept. But too long and not enough content.
