Space Engineers - Space Survival - Ep25 - Interior Design and more Reavers!!.

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the twenty-fifth episode of this semi-hardcore survival series, in this episode I work on completing the defense towers I laid out in the last episode, deal with a Reaver encounter and then make a start on the interior of the base.

Instead of all those converyors you could have just turned all your welders sideways and used a single converyor n the side window slots linking the top 2 conveyors with the bottom 2. From memory its not just antenna's. Pretty sure reavers are drawn to power consumption so if they are close enough they will aggro.

LOL Whoops 😅. Yeah reavers are drawn to antenna's, and if you move around large grids within like 5km of them then they can get aggro on you and then if they get within 2km it doesn't matter what you do they are coming for you! 😂

I think that gap you have in the middle of your catwalk section would make a good conveyor link for the weapons platform that guards the hangar entrance

I believe I remember that if anything moves fast, it activates Reaver's hunting. So like zipping around your base might activate them if they are within a threshold, without any care of the antennas. But antenna make it a larger radius that it will pick it up. But it was mentioned in a series I watched a very long time ago. I'm unsure if your cannons will fire if they have to shoot over/through a friendly. But that might be a weapon modset that sets that.

Yeah you are right, they can detect you from 5km away if you are moving around in a ship of some sort but it depends on how vigorously you are moving around and the size of the ship. I haven't had any problems moving my character around though within that 5km radius 😊

You might want to move the defense tower projectors inside of the towers and make a hidden connection to your base, those things always seem to run out of power on the worst possible moments (although that would be fun to watch).

Yeah I want to plumb them up to the base as well so that they can be fed with constant ammo, and I'd like to put a build and repair in them so I don't have to repair them so often 😉✌️✌️

Reavers also sometimes attack based on activity in an area from what I remember

Take the oxygen tank off and you've got enough room for an advanced assembler and all the speed add ons you'll hold more ingots than parts. You can have the base do bulk production for things like steel plates and metal grids and have your ship make up large tubes, steel tubes, and other components.

You can attach that table to the catwalks, you just have to use a temporary scaffold.

Been trying to catch up on this series, very fun AND informative to watch. I think if I watch enough of these I'll figure out how to play this game. On another note, when that reaver was attacking the other side of your asteroid, @37:26 I heard screaming like someone was dyeing because their ship was getting shot up. Could it be that what that reaver was actually after was some other factions ship that was passing by on the other side of your asteroid?

Yeah so essentially that's part of the Reavers mod, when they get close to you that sound plays sometimes, it's meant to strike fear into you haha. They done it in the firefly series and I'm pretty sure they also done it in the movie as well.

Hello, at 15:00, ^^ yes batteries are 30% charge when you built them ^^ and it's by default in the game for a wild, you have just forgot it, there are so many params in this game ^^

Some of the longer range weapons dont seem to work when the range is adjusted. I tested this on my two plasma cannons and they now work how ever i leave them turned off most of the time as they have 4km and 5km range which attracts too much attention. A few days ago outside my asteroid base they had attracted reavers, parralax, pravda and imber which all ended up fighting each other and me for over an hour, thank goodness for shields lol

I think I just messed up what they can shoot at, and I need to have a look at the settings, because they seem to have shot at the ship I captured in Episode 27.

Couldn't you have just placed some pistons on the ship to use as a portable welding platform? As for the Reaver, perhaps you just happened to be on his travel path. For the railguns, does line of sight matter? I do not think that reaver actually came from behind the asteroid. I think only your ship fired at it. Love the Expanse table idea. Could you place something vertical in the 4 corners of the hole that the table can sit on? Like 4 poles or pillars?

Yeah you could use pistons I guess 😉 I wanna build a bigger printing ship though! I think I have set the Railguns to target only other factions and not enemies by mistake, I will have to check the settings and confirm. Yeah I might try using some of the new blocks like scaffolding to hold them up 🤔😎

Why not add and use Nanobots mod? Let them build the things for you and you won't have these issues.

For that console you wanted to place in the gap in the catwalk at the end of the video, you could place neon lights or a catwalk upside down under it.

it may connect if you put a block underneath the table and then make said block into a supporting pillar for the walk way for aesthetics?

Yeah I think there are are two that are even bigger than that, there is the Crimson Tormentor and then the Tormentor, not sure about the name of the latter though I forgot haha

Nah I have a large reactor in the big ship, plus a small reactor in the base itself so I've got like 315MW of power excluding the batteries, I think i have messed up the settings on the guns themselves so I'll have look in the next episode 😉

1:09:48 railguns have their shoot setting to off

Setting them to shoot: on will make them shoot right away. So that isn't the problem

As I have mentioned on a few other comments I think I have messed up the targeting settings, gotta check it out in Epsiode 28 😉

The railguns on the weapons platforms seem to have "Shoot" disabled

Turning that on will make them shoot right away

The railgun might not have had clear line of fire and not enough battery charge

I think I have messed up the settings where what it can shoot at is concerned, I think I might have made it so that it can target other factions and then turned off the enemies targetting, I have to check though 🤔

I must admit it is a lot better than it was before, at one point it would change every time I load the game. Nowadays it kinda changes colour after half a second or so to my preferred skin 😊✌️
