If you realy design your base around defence you defenetly have to have redundency. Spare ammo crates, secondary and tertiary conveyer lines, batteries and generators dotted around etc.

@@xymaryai8283 Warheads don't require power, though sensors do. However, there is a solution: make a separate small grid with batteries, sensor and warheads and lock it to the main grid via landing gear. It will continue working even when the rest of the ship is depowered and won't show up in the grid terminal. The whole thing can fit inside a single large grid block, hidden away in some strategic location.

Damn. The Space engineers community is known as a community who have weaponized Clang, Pray to Clang, can launch ship into orbit with nothing more than recoil alone, Constantly find new ways to abuse the system...and Now they have new toys? We have long ranged custom missiles, Gravity Drives, High RPM Railgun Turrets, and now people are using Anti-ship turrets as Interior Defense. All this mind you...without a single mod. At this rate, i wonder what would happen if the Devs decided to add in Shields and better reactors. Imagine if they added a reactor that was double the size of the Large Reactor, but produced 8 times the power. Nuclear Fusion Reactor powered by new ore? Would be interesting to see what the community could come up with!

I once had the idea for a shield made of rock held via carefully tuned gravity generators, similar to the idea of a gravity cannon but you build a wall instead. And of course in a oinch you could have extra generators wired up to turn your stone shield into a hail of projectiles.

The turret is made with a script that auto selects stuff and sets up the CTC for you, you can select how long it needs to be idle till it resets(0 secs in this case)

I don't know, this is pretty innovative if you ask me, if you put on the riggt weapons it can work as a CIWS gun, even better if they find a way to make stealth drives operable then it's kind of like The Expanse, you can store your turrets internally for either more aerodynamics or as a way to hide amongst the debris of a battle.

You call this OP? In Empyrion, you can place ANY turret inside. I mean, I wouldn't personally suggest placing artillery cannons to defend your hallways, as the blast radius is rather problematic, but laser turrets can still one-shot players just as easily without the collateral damage.

Custom turrets either need a camera or a weapon to aim with. Weapon is superior because it means at least one weapon is always aimed directly at the target
