@@LunarKolony nice video. Can you do something like larger like the battleship, battlecarrier super-/flagcarrier, superweapon or dreadnaught next?
@DjigitDaniel2 жыл бұрын
Another excellent video. 👍🏻 A thought: countermeasures and decoys are critical for troop deployment and marine support, reducing effects of incoming fire and improving survivability of the package during landings. An EW suite on the command boat or decoy launchers on the lead landers would be a good idea. Solutions can be stock or modular.

I enjoy watching these. I actually design my ships to about these same roles and see these roles and specializations about the same as you do. HOWEVER, I actually don’t use gunboats, I usually either run my corvettes as small ship escorts to rile with their fighter screen role. OR I run my heavy fighters, and Assault Transports (AC Designator) to escort gunships and small transports. I used to some space engineers container back in 2013, and my ship sizes have since shrank and been streamlined. My largest vessel is an Assault Cruiser and is more used as a mobile base.

For any gunboat-esque design, I personally just take on the A-10's style of "Weapon that flies". The role will be filled but it will be rather limited to its one role, for a tradeoff of being extremely cheap and effective at its given role.
@cosmicbananas80842 жыл бұрын
I feel like gun boats would work well with a small grid since they are so small and you can add more details this way
@clemenceyi10582 жыл бұрын
I love this series! I think they are generally good for any fleet and i have definitely considered them in my own class definitions. Do you plan on making videos for larger vessels like dreadnoughts or battleships, and do you plan on reviewing fighter craft?

I took your advice when I tried to make a small grid gunship recently. I I think I did good, but I'm struggling to add more guns without throwing out the overall look that I've made, and I accidentally made possibly too many redundancies with power and hydrogen. I say this because while in creative I made copies of the unfinished ship and blasted it apart and it could still survive even if 1 of its primary naisales is removed along with everything behind the cockpit. It doesnt fly great or for super long, but it does maintain some damage output and can still support itself for a fewish minutes while planetside before fuel runs dry. I honestly wasn't even trying to make redundancies. It just happened because I used every "free" spot I could find anywhere in the ship to hide small batteries and small hydrogen tanks because it's tough fitting the large versions in adequate amounts.

I've always thought of gunboat to be essentially anti-corvet corvets. basically just corvets but with guns to kill other corvets and potentially destroyers. While lighter armed than destroyers, they shouldn't be used against anything larger than themselves.
