In Space Jam 2 we have LeBron James as the main character of the movie. But how does Space Jam 2 A New Legacy compare to the beloved, original Space Jam film?

I rewatched the original in preparation for the sequel as well. I have a lot of nostalgia for it as well, but it didn’t make the original movie better. The human side really made no sense, but it had entertainment value once the big game started. They might as well have just been more honest and titled the sequel “SIGN UP FOR HBO MAX RIGHT NOW!!!” I loathed my experience watching it, and while the original was flawed, there was still a charm to it.

I love both Space Jam movies,sure they aren't perfect but they are good and solid movies that can admire their animation and funny aspects and tone,all in all I give both movies a 6 or 7 out of 10 I will always respect both Basketball Players to try acting and making expressions while the Looney Tunes and the crossover events putting a smile on my face,it might still be a cash cow and could have been better,they are still enjoyable and watchable movies that can be watched from time to time.

Space Jam 1 is the highest grossing basketball movie of all time. And that's without social media and all the current global marketing strategies that are available today. Lebron just can't win in the overall eyes of the public.

I'm glad to see someone FINALLY give Space Jam 2 a fair criticize. Both movies are very weird and have a lot of flaws, but I agree with you that A New Legacy had a better story. There is nothing new in it, but I think it had a good message for all families. However, I personally felt that the characterizations of the Looney Tunes were more faithful to the classic shorts in the sequel than the original. Even in the original, the Tunes were charming, but I felt that many of the things they said and did were out-of-character. But that's just my opinion. Thanks for the great review!

I've been looking forward to see this Versus video between the first Space Jam and the second Space Jam. I like both of the these movies and watching them seeing the looney tunes makes me feel like a kid again and brought back memories. In terms of the soundtrack I'm gonna go with the first movie and it terms of the audience watching the basketball game I'm gonna go with the second movie because seeing characters from other Warner Brothers properties like Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Iron Giant, King Kong, Pennywise, The Mask, Dorothy(The Wizard of Oz), Space Ghost and many others really puts a smile on my face. And yes the Rick and Morty cameo really shocked me I wasn't expecting to see them but they're Warner Brothers characters. I would give Space Jam 2 credit for being different while keeping spirit with the original Space Jam. Out of all the movies of 2021 this was the film I was super looking forward to see. Well the thing about micgeal jordans bad acting is because he wanted to play himself, his regular plain old self, hes not trying to be a character or try to be an exaggerated caricature of himself. He just wanted to be him. Lebron james on the other hand felt a bit like he was asked to play a caricature of himself.

I don't understand why the original is so underrated in this comment section. It's an entertaining movie with colorful characters, not a Broadway play. It features amazing soundtracks, characters, animation, and special effects, making it an integral part of our childhoods. Unless you are an unhappy adult, it's not a 7/10, it's a 10/10.

One was more a semi-biography that is the first film and it felt straight forward in terms of storytelling once you understand the content of the film from an outsiders perspective as opposed to the second one which felt more like a corporation flexing its muscle in an obvious way that is kind of annoying than enjoyable sometimes and the storytelling was cliché and sad to see.

Even as a huge LeBron fan, I'll still take MJ's Space Jam anyday. I don't hate or even dislike Space Jam 2, some parts did feel like it was just an advertisment, and LeBron does need to improve his acting (it's not bad though). But, the movie is good though, 7.5/10 imo and kids could enjoy it now, and will grow on them in the future. Either way, watching them both in the future as an adult will be a good nostalgia trip for both movies.

I never watched the first Space Jam before, but Space Jam: A New Legacy has TONS of Warner Bros references and cameos as well as scenes featuring the Warner Bros Studios (just like Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) so I'd pretty much prefer Space Jam: A New Legacy! Usually, I hate modern stuff! Modern music, modern Nickelodeon shows, modern DreamWorks franchises, modern brand logos, and modern Pixar movies! Anything modern in general! But regardless, Space Jam: A New Legacy is surprisingly the only movie from this decade that I ever enjoyed because it has way more stuff in the movie than the first film!

The sequel is bad because IT IS just a commercial for WB properties. OG Space Jam was sort of a love letter to Michael Jordan being “the greatest”. That’s the only reason you have the Looney Tunes playing basketball of all things. They could’ve done a triathlon of different activities that played to each toons strengths with the aliens sabotaging them at every turn and been on point for a kids cartoon but this movie is about Michael Jordan specifically The new one is just a cash grab on the franchise with the current “GOAT”
