Ya it has very similar feel but it much less punishing to new players. Just wish the PVP had gears level gore. Really adds to the whole atmosphere of the carnage filled gun fights, but I cant complain the game is amazing so far.

Imagine mixed PvE with PvP mode. Like ultra marines, lets say 10 vs 5 chaos marines with horde and a mini boss as an army. 10 vs mini army. Would be dope mode to be honest.

Finding this game was coming out also got me into the lore for the first time. Just finishing my first 40k novel which I've loved and been binging the 40k lorecast. Loving all of it and can't wait for tomorrow to finally play. Looks amazing

As many ppl say, Space Marine 2 has a Gears of War and Helldivers feeling, but for those unaware, that's because W40K is the "father" of them, both were heavily inspired by the W40K universe, specially Helldivers. As a side note, W40K was heavily inspired by the Dune books, consider Dune the grandfather of almost anything sci-fi, just as LOTR is for fantasy.

Same thing with Gears of War, not solely W40K, but there is a lot of it, while also being inspired by Starship Troopers and other material. That being said, the Starship Troopers book, the Dune book, and some others were inspirations to many sci-fi books, movies and games.

Multiplayer is fun as hell, especially as a jump packer with thunder hammer and shock grenades. Cause so much confusion. Just wish they included executions in the multiplayer, and maybe a more refined parry system like the campaigns one.

Great gameplay, had no idea vanguard could grapple surfaces in PVP so thanks for showing that. I agree on the customisation, disappointingly limited options, speaking as a lifelong servant of Chaos lol. Definitely seems like they were pretty last minute. But the devs have a plan and appear competent, so I'm sure that'll be improved in good time. TBH, by the time I get a decent enough PC to play this game they may have already done so haha

Tom, you should 100% dive into the full lore of Warhammer 40K. Even if you don't want to mess with collecting figures, just the books, artwork and lore is worth your time. It's by far the best futuristic sci-fi fantasy world ever created (fight me). I was massively into it as a teen (collecting figures but not playing the game), but then drifted away for a LONG time. Just recently I dipped back into it and was immediately hooked again. As an adult it seems even better because you just understand more of it. I'm really thrilled that this game, probably for the first time, feels accurate and immersive in the 40K world. The potential for other PvP and PvPvE modes and introducing other enemies from the 40K universe is just massive. It's almost endless which as a game studio is what you want, right? I just hope it does well for them and we get more.

If you want lore get Audible it’s all I use it for . I have over 230 Warhammer books on Audible I have the Heresy dark I imperium siege of tera and I’m up to date with release . If the PVP respawn mechanic is anything like the other games, I think you can keep the other team perpetually 2v3 against your team if you guys time your kills. Gank 1 guy and then back off. It takes the dead guy some time to return to the field. Whoever with the most health and crowd control should contest the point. The other 2 hides to set up ambush. Unless they're experienced, they're likely going to tunnel vision on the point and walk a straight line to gank your 1 guy contesting it. That's when you jump one of them and repeat the process. We just want 1 kill, don't want to get greedy.

2 ideas for future space marine 2 multiplayer game modes: for honor style: loads of npc 'grunts' astra militarum for space marines and chaos cultists for chaos marines, then have the 6 player controlled characters running round slaughtering eachother and assisting the grunts in the 'war' style map aka 1 team attacking the others fortress etc battlefront style: bigger maps, more players maybe like 12v12, you build points and once you reach a certain amount you enter the battlefield as a primarch, or deamon primarch for chaos ofc, and have it scaled similar to how battlefront scales jedi, reduced healing etc and just generally weaker than they probably should be lore wise but still strong enough to slice thru the regular enemies

Don’t get me wrong the games itself is amazing! I’ve loved the campaign so far and not being very well versed in the behemoth that is 40k lore I’ve enjoyed learning about how this universe works, the pvp is also amazing! I only have one problem though it’s not cross play? Me and my friends were enjoying the campaign but decided to try the multiplayer when we then got kicked into separate lobby’s? I understand the reasoning but it could be solved with a toggle for it like there is for the campaign and operations? I just think it limits the player pool of pvp and I really hope they add it in future the games only come out so I’m optimistic!

It's also shockingly balanced which I wasn't expecting, I've played all classes a bit (maining bullwark) and found every class effective with all having an arguably broken gimmic just a just as open counter with room for out playing on all sides Actually there is 1 main con that I've experienced. The ease of spawn camping. For whatever reason I've been able to play sniper with carbine. Sneak into their spawn and just kill them over and over cus carbine melts. And idk why but spawns wouldn't switch even when I was standing behind them

I hope they don't change much. Reducing the down time would be nice but that's about it. Its really simple, it doesn't feel super sweaty because there're no leaderboards to dominate, your down time in match is minimal and every class feels like it has something. The classes work if you're just wanting to run and gun and if you want to think about the (plenty of) flanking routes. More customisation and reduce the timer and map introduction and I think they'll hit some gold.

A Tyranid vs Marines mode might sound heretical but could add a variety to game modes. With a hard point like objective, say like 6 M's vs 4 T's with adds who over time through play (kills, caps, streak bonuses) earn points to upgrade their next spawn as a special class that was in the game. From Warriors and Lictors to the most expensive and difficult to get, Carnifex. Each being extra armored for more survivability in pvp other than maybe the Carnifex since it is already a walking tank. And only 1 Carnifex per game since the adds and 3 other mates support is more than enough. Should feel like 15-20 kill streak in CoD, not impossible but definitely difficult. And Marines have extended ammo cache and replenishing ammo drops and maybe health around the map.

Lol ive already encountered 2 hackers in the PvP mode. They were both spamming infinite grenades. One was using frags, and the next game, the guy was using shock grenades. One was also a heavy with infinite iron halo
