@@ltcinsane Not exactly. Generally, the Inquisition doesn't have much more power than to ask nicely and hope the branches of the Imperium agree to assist. The Inquisition is entirely dependent on the other branches to do its job and its authority begins and ends at saying something and hoping its orders are followed. That's fine for the rank-and-file, but for generals, planetary governors, and higher, an Inquisitor's authority extends only as far as his or her reputation for being reasonable, effective, and cooperative. A Space Marine, on the other hand, can kill an Inquisitor pretty much on a whim with zero repercussions. When your authority is based purely on power, anyone with more power than you at the moment instantly nullifies all of yours. Such is the hubris of the inquisitors that they think a lone individual can stand against the realm of ultramar.

Inquisitor Dimitry Laskör enters the room, grabs his follow inquisitor by the scruff of the neck, followed by a swift yet devastating kick to the shin to force him on his knees. "Please forgive my colleague, milord. His heart is in the right place, but his brain is up his ass."

Though they did work with the Inquisition as well. Like with Uriel Ventris working with the Grey Knights on Sicaris, even after going through trials to make sure they weren't tainted by the Death Quest he had been on. They were hunting the Daemon Engine that had been pulled into reality.
