The lore of Matt’s past week. Tried recovering society ala waterworld, but finds himself stranded in a desolate land that is riddled by predators and plague. By some miracle gets himself into space and finds a job doing space trucking but runs out of space-trucking-batteries. Which leads to him being stuck on this failing space station

Fun fact. In the old, really old anime called Macross(the original one), in the first episode there was a moment when heroine gets spooked by a... tuna( the whole fish ) flying in the space. This get referenced by tv animation "Robotech'' later on. The tuna in the game might or might not be reference to that.

honestly, this game would be so amazing if they add just the slightest amount of horror. not the "something is out to get you" kind of horror, but more the "I've been alone out here for 3 weeks by myself... is that planet looking at me?" kind of horror. like, on some random day between 9 to 14 the planet in the background has a giant eye on it actually staring at you, and you just have to wonder what is really real anymore. nothing that ever actually messes with you mechanically, just stuff to mess with you mentally. considering hallucinations is a real thing, especially with people stuck in isolation for extended periods of time... it wouldn't be a stretch either.

One is a single inventory the other is swapping between which random chest you left stuff in. Considering they have instabuild and other non immersive stuff they should just add the linking. Unless that is an upgrade or some kind of module that makes everything connect.
@TheMrDewil
@TheMrDewil Ай бұрын
@@HidForHG I get what you mean, and I agree. One thing is when you're out hunting-gathering, and you want to squeeze as many items in your inventory as you can. And it can be pretty fun, if done right. And the other thing is when you have to rummage through your many chests to find where you've put that one thing you need to craft other thing. And that is no fun at all. The same way list inventories are no fun. I always wonder, why so many devs don't implement linking. Not everyone is a fan of organization, and it is a neat QoL. Just a little "let's pretend that your character knows where everything is and just grabs it before crafting". When devs don't do that, it always makes me think that they don't play their own game, and because of that I can't trust them to make a good one. It can be ok game, but not good one, or great one. And if it's an "immersion" issue, whatever that means, a simple options menu toggle would do the trick. After all, having a choice is a good thing.
@lukewarren9593
@lukewarren9593 Ай бұрын
@HidForHG I was just having a goof... It was just funny to me that watching 2-3 videos in a row and both polar opposites were said. I get what you're saying though. I wonder how easy/hard it is from a programming side of things how linking of chests would work. Is there a proximity that would be acceptable? Would that make it harder to program. Or would it just be easiest to have any chests across the map all linked up? From a multiplayer gamer perspective, I don't want chests linked if I'm sharing a base with 3-4 others and lets just say the one that isn't doing the bulk of the gathering also happens to just craft out of my chests everything they need before I get a chance to upgrade my weapon/armor or whatever...?

It's fun, but it has it's pointless irritations. Power being first and foremost. We know it's night. We don't need an alarm to have to find, and turn off before bed. One thing I might add, something that tends to be overlooked in games like this, is a tether. It's 3D, out in space. Losing your base with ten seconds of air isn't abnormal. You should be able to craft a magnetic tether you place every time you leave, then hit a button to get pulled back to it, or have it automatic when you're running too low on O2.

I hope they add better, immersive animations in the final release. Especially with the first-person view, simulation games like this thrive on immersion. So being able to climb into the sleeping pod from your POV, or actually opening a can of tuna would be nice. I think this is part of what made Subnautica extremely immersive. And even though Green Hell is a great game, it lacks some of these animations (which would be very simple to add) and you really feel the lack of impact sometimes.

It would be an interesting(quite possibly not fun, that part could be tricky) to completely drop the weight limit; but be utterly ruthless about inertia still being your problem. Not like you'll hurt yourself lifting with your back rather than your legs in zero g; or be unable to move when overburdened in a frictionless environment; but the more you carry the easier it will be to build up enough inertia jetting around in the void to squeeze you out of your suit like a tube of particularly unhappy toothpaste if you don't judge the approach to a large object properly...

looks cool, but I am confused how you are maneuvering in vacuum without thrusters, seems like you would have to be tethered, make leaps towards debris you want to grab, and then pull yourself back with the tether (despite he name being "untethered").

He has thrusters. In his suit upgrades they were called safety thrusters.

Holy SHIT! The opening scene was taken DIRECTLY FROM A DREAM I HAD IN 2002. Right down to the sound of my alarm clock TRYING to wake me up in time for class, but my sleep-deprived brain just integrating it into the dream as the decompression alarm on my space ship. This is NOT A JOKE. I'm dead serious. I've had that dream. It's cool to see it in video game form. Who made this game? Cuz I'm thinking it may have been one of my college roommates since they're the only people I told about that dream. Lost touch with them over the years though.

Hi, developer here. I was not alive in 2002, but I can confirm that I have been browsing your dream archive - streaming them directly into my brain from my dream observation chamber. A couple years back I came across this specific dream of yours, and it inspired me to create Untethered. Fortunately, copyright law hasn't caught up with the technology, so I should be in the clear. Thanks!

LO2 is liquid oxygen, LH2 is liquid hydrogen, so it's the fuel ;)
