Space Station 13 is a game that you're not going to understand unless you play. It's not a game you can learn by watching or reading, and it is a game you certainly won't master in your first day, week or month. Space station 13 is one of the most insane experiences of my life, a game that has occupied my time for over a decade now. Space station 13 is the roguelike of roguelikes for me, the most wonderful piece of human created madness, and certainly on equal footing with dwarf fortress in terms of sheer complexity. For about 2 months, I'd just hide in a plant and become the plant and beat the shit out of people and if I didn't immediately get busted by an assistant with a fire extinguisher I'd just spend the rest of the round trying to break the windows out of botany until they made space weed. Nowadays I just take the curator role and space the codex gigas and then get piss drunk in the bar until I die or become a vegetable in medbay, after filling the bookshelves with WGW and throwing a few copies around the station.

My favorite rounds on Goon (and SS13 as a whole, honestly) has always been me getting ling'd and seeing how crazy things get. Though once my body was rescued and I got borged before the end of the round, and got to step into the shuttle while the ling (who was dressed as the captain) was followed closely by two borgs who KNEW he was a ling, but the AI laws had been changed so they couldn't say anything. It was a great round.

Had a GoonRP round a few nights ago with around 20 people in it. It felt like good old classic goon. I remember the days when you had to wait for the weekend peak hours to get a round of 30+ people. I'm not gonna complain about more asshats to frustrate with my antics though, victims are always fun.

Something that bugs me about Goon now that I've started playing is the lack of Atmospherics... I mean, I get axing Atmos Techs, as having played plenty of Non-antag ATs it's a blue moon you actually get to DO ANYTHING and Antag Atmos just fucks everyone over, but removing of most of the Atmospheric Infrastructure in a game built on Atmospheric Simulation can create irksome situations. Like yesterday I was playing a Pilot Engineer and I needed to refill my O2 after many a spacewalk, but found there was an extreme lack of O2 Canisters in general and the only ones in Engineering were in Engine Storage. Problem was, the Central Engine Room had been depressurized, so I had to bum another tank from an O2 closet just to get a refill. I know Atmo Pipes are a pain in the ass and a half to map, but not having almost all of that life-support infrastructure makes a lot of problematic map features (Airlocks) more irritating than FUN.

Goon station is great for it. With friendly community and their mentorhelp feature. Also I think that their servers are hosted in New York, USA, but they work fine even for me connecting from the EU.
