Which Chase scene is your favorite in the movies/ Shows? Can we all agree the worst one is the Vespa chase in BoBF? 😂😂

As much as I love the Anakin/Obi-Wan vs. Zam Wessell chase, the Asteroid Field from Ep. 5 just kills with that blaring horns soundtrack. Mando almost dying on the ice spider planet trying to evade New Republic X-Wings is an honorable mention.

This is my homebrew rule for character ground chases which i think works for any vehicle chase as well (both space and planetary): The chase lasts around 5 or 6 turns (depending on the scene). It works exactly like a regular combat (with fighting, shooting and everything) but in order to change your band range using a manuever (like moving forward) you do athletics check (2 difficult dice with extras setbacks depending on the terrain). Also, if the character has agility above 2 he gets an extra boost die. If the character fails he doesnt move and loses his manuever. If he succeeds then he moves as regular. Threats and advantages can be use to lose and heal strain or some other type of narrative advantage like "the chasee drops something on the path so the chaser gets one extra setback for the next roll). After the end of the last turn the chase ends and the character gets where he wants before the chaser. The chase can end before the last turn if either the chaser engages with chasee or if the chaser gets too far away (extreme range from the chasee, ) representing the chaser lost the sight of the chasee or something. I used it in a scene where the player characters were being chased by stormtroopers on the streets of tatooine trying to get to their ship before being caught. The good thing about it was that combat could still be running while the whole chasing was happening... so it became more strategic since the strongest characters kept themselves behind closer to the stormtroopers while the others where trying to get to the ship at all cost. I believe it can be replicated with vehicles just by replacing athletics/agility with pilot/ship speed.

Just a suggestion... You guys could make a mass combat video. I thinks the rules is somewhere in one of the Age of Rebellion books

That will probably be a video later in the year :)

Much simpler than space combat. You could probably just use these rules and homebrew them a little to do combat.

The great thing about this game, is the book is very clear about the GM being able to change just about whatever they want to best run their own games :)

"i'm about to run a Star Wars game for my best friend from childhood and his kids, the latter having never role-played before. I chose first-edition because it's the version my friend and I played as kids. I'm opening the adventure with a speeder bike chase. I love these chase rules because I'm totally blind, and therefore don't use maps or minis. I also don't want to slow the game down while we do math to see who's where, which would be the case if we used either other edition. My enthusiasm has kept me from cutting straight to my question. Appologies. I can't find anything in the abook about how to handle vehicle damage in a chase. Revised/Expanded has some interesting ideas about that, but I'm trying to cobble together things from other editions as little as possible. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Would you just adapt the rules from Starship Combat? Am I missing something obvious from the book? Any help is greatly apreciated.

@@erictroup5094vehicle damage in a chase will only effect the chase once critical hits begin to be rolled or your system strain hits zero. So if you want some tips id say have your PCs maneuver a lot so they have to manage strain. Something that is forgotten a lot is that characters don’t die or even pass out when they hit zero strain or wounds, they just become very very vulnerable.

Based on trip times, what constitutes a sector vs a region? Im working on setting trip times between Nal Hutta and Coruscant and/or Spintir and/or Onderon but how do i get the base time. Is Core world planets a region or a sector? Is Hutt Space a region or a sector is it part of the outer rim or separate from it?

I imagine a region is like core worlds vs outer rim. A sector is like a nearby star system. I could be wrong but without having the book in front of me right now that's my interpretation. (I'll check tomorrow and update the comment if it is wrong)

Is there a GM source for spaceport protocols and imperial check stops? I know that the player’s ship would need a transponder code registered with BoSS…

Not that I know of, though you could join my discord server and ask. People there are typically quick to answer!

Screw the sequel trilogy stuff; that unimaginative crap is loosely based on canon lore at best. The map is good how it is.
