Rise of Skywalker is Spaceballs 2. Although that's an insult to the intentionally funny masterpiece Spaceballs, being that Rise of Skywalker isn't intentionally funny. It's just the plot of an evil phantom emporer who was brought in with a crawl that starts with "the dead speak" to "subvert expectations" is quite parodyable.

Yes Alejandro, what a TOTAL BUMMER. He died a little more than six weeks ago (January 25, 2018) at the age of 91. He wrote the music score for lots of other Mel Brooks films in addition to "Spaceballs". ;-(

I love how the composer has combined the theme of Star Wars and Superman together, it's wonderful, it's magical, it reminds me of Luke and Leia Skywalker with Christopher Reeve flying whilst holding and kissing Margot Kidder, it's beautiful.....it's resembles the Glory, Glory, Glory days of Science Fiction films at their very, very, very best! Joseph Shmo Actually "Episode IV A New Hope" was added when the film returned to theaters in 1981 after "Episode V The Empire Strikes Back" came out. Originally, it had no title in 1977.

Josi heard that the term episoder four and A New Hope were added later or at least episode 4. At that time Lucas did not know if Star Wars would succeed, and that was why the Death astar was destroyed in case it needed a full ending. Also why the Emporer isn't mentioned until Empire Strikes Black

I really wish there was more Spaceballs. I've always held the belief it would have made an excellent TV show, parodying not just Star Wars but science fiction tropes in general while having it's own distinct storyline. Regardless, even though Spaceballs is an old and dated Parody of Star Wars (and a late one, even for the time), it manages to resonate with audiences well into the 21st century. When I was in High School about 6 years back, another school's marching band played their signature piece at our football games. It was the Spaceballs theme.
