You do not hope that? Mel Brooks is too old to make this himself, and other than that, modern Hollywood just farts out crap anymore. Something like Spaceballs, I don't see as possible these days, at least from big studios. It would rather be something some independent makers could properly do - also capturing the feel of Spaceballs 1 due to cheap props. =)

5:46 appears to be a shot that was cut from the movie! This featurette seems to be from a time before the movie was completed! Also, 7:24 has an alternate "Virgin Alarm" sound that was later replaced with the sound that's heard in the final movie. In addition to this, at 6:50, Barf's quote "We're gonna die!" seems to be another quote that was cut from the movie, as I don't think there's any existing prints of the movie that seems to have that quote.

How did this movie bomb at the box office? Baffling. Some people claim it was bad timing, but it came out in 1987! So 1977, 1980, 1983, 1987 ... ok one year late, but not too late.

Google tells me, it made almost double it's production cost at the box office, so while it wasn't as successful as it deserved, I wouldn't say it bombed.

I had always heard that Mel told George Lucas that he wanted to do a spoof of Star Wars and George Lucas liked the idea but said, "But no merchandise", which Mel agreed to and which explains the scene in the movie with the merchandise and Yogurt. I think it might be an urban legend though.
