This was so so good! Like you’re preaching to the choir because I am already a spacedogs fanatic but I’m still obsessed!! I wish you’d released this when I first got into Hannibal earlier this year (I’m late I know!). I remember the first time I saw spacedogs fan art and I was like “who is this? Hannibal would never wear that so who is this??” It’s been a slippery slope from that day! By now I’m way too deep in the HEU. I just love the combo of obsessive Adam with possessive Nigel - it’s such a good dynamic. Anyway such a wonderful video (and I definitely still learnt things despite being a spacedogs super fan!) Thank you for making this. I just watched a 50 min yap at 2am and I loved every minute ❤️

Finally got a chance to watch this! I remember first getting into Hannibal and Hannigram and being so confused by the HEU. But once I understood it, Ive def become obsessed lol. I love that you brought up Nigel's homophobic comments bc my headcanon for him--I absolutely dont think hes homophobic either. Tbh I think hes queer himself, be it pan or bi. Which, not only is Nigel smart af, but he could tell that Charlie was not gay and showed how much he knew that idea was bullshit. Plus, if he WAS homophobic, why would Gabi say thats what Charlie was? Shed be sentencing him to violence, attacks, and possible death. But I think she knew Nigel wouldnt harm him. But she underestimated how smart Nigel is lol And i love everything you mentioned about how Nigel wants someone to adore and Adam himself wants to be adored. They both long for that, but with their respective love interests, they could never properly achieve it. Gabi had a great deal of independence and didnt trust Nigel despite that he (presumably) never hurt her. And Beth did want to change Adam and refused to take the time to understand his needs. As much as I dont like Beth, I can at least symapthize that she had her own needs that Adam couldnt fulfill either--but I think with Nigel, those needs are EASILY fulfilled. He needs love, loyalty, and honesty (esp after Gabi). Not much else. Passion is def a big bonus too and can lead to those initial feelings of admiration for Adam. And Adam would love that Nigel wouldnt want to change him. That he would be accepted as is, stars and warts and all. Which I think would give Adam the push to accept Nigel right back. Loved this video, I kept chuckling at so many parts where I kept relating to your words. Especially "he was tryin' to get with his WIFE". Bc yeah, Id want to fuck Charlie up to like come on haha.

Ok nothing against Adam Raki because I love him, but I really think that Aiden Galvin (Hugh's character in Blood and Chocolate) is a better fit with Nigel. Reasons why: 1. Aiden is canonically in Bucharest. 2. Aiden is Nigel's type (feisty and creative) 3. Aiden has a tasty dark backstory that would make for very entertaining angst/drama with Nigel. 4. Aiden is still played by Hugh Dancy so you are still in the same extended fandom. 5. Blood and Chocolate has werewolves which you can add for aditional drama or monsterf^cking reasons. 6. Aiden can deal with morally grey darkness and Nigel won't traumatize him (any more than he's already traumatized) 7. Aiden will 10000% stab a b^tch. 8. I love seeing a sassy Hugh and a deeply infatuated Mads 9. Aiden gives Will a run for his money when it comes to sass. Man literally talked shit to a werewolf that was all wolfed out and about to murder him. 10. Adding werewolves to any story makes it sexier. This is just facts. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. i saw you mention this on instagram!! so excited about this, spacedogs and hannibal nbc are such interests of mine and spacedogs as a ship fills some void in my insides where an autistic (trans, in my headcanon of any character hugh dancy plays /lh) man is accepted for who he is so wholeheartedly and just agh. i need to draw fanart of them istg. For research i watched both the Charlie Countryman movie and Adam, and god i kinda hated Adam 2009 /lh. it was so hard to sit through the ableism and their choices for how characters interact with Adam. With Charlie Countryman, i have absolutely no patience for straight love stories it turns out but it Broke Me that like two minutes at the end of the movie when you could see the contemplation of what Nigel should do so his wife, the person he loves, can be happy even if its without him

I’m queer too, and I agree that Nigel’s homophobic language was much more about calling the bluff than any bigotry. My favorite is when he’s just a hedonist like Prince Oberyn - happy to romp around with whoever wants to, but also when meeting Adam hits him like a ton of bricks and he’s just, “well, I’ll figure it out.”

I always thought it could have been an interesting movie if it was about a girl landing her dream job at the symphony then losing the beloved father who always supported her music. But then she had to deal with her psycho ex and some stalkery wet rat of a man both thinking her story revolves around them. 😂 While I love spacedogs!Nigel with all my heart and soul, movie!Nigel was a bit of an ass. I like Space Invader for that a lot! He’s grounded, decisive, and at least as influential on those around him as they are on him. In a much much darker vein, Shelter Us Harbor Me has Will and Hannibal kidnap Adam and the process of infantilizing him is openly part of the brainwashing/torment they inflict on him. Still infantilizing, but deliberately and obviously framed as a bad thing.

It is very different from hannibal but sometimes when nigel speaks it's also very poetic (when he's not swearing) like when he said "Partaking of the arts, care of the soul." The only shareable playlist I have is here on youtube!!! it's on this account and it's titled "Dramaturge"! But it's specifically based on the fic i wrote of the same name! 💗
