Spaceship Earth 1994 Martins Complete Ultimate Tribute

The second of my completely new edits and the second in the Spaceship Earth series.
After seeing what changes were made in 1994, take a full multi camera ride of the whole attraction using new and re rendered footage, all of far better quality than my original edit. Virtually every separate video clip has been tweaked and cleaned as much as I can. This is matched by a new high quality audio mix that has far more source audio than previously available.
After unloading, walk into Global Neighborhood for a tour and then take the same tour five years later in the “New” Global Neighborhood.
Finally see the changes made around the attraction for the Millennium.

This is the best version of Spaceship Earth. It was more theatrical, moody, and inspiring. Plus Jeremy Irons had a fantastic narration and the music was gorgeous. The current version is bland and already dated. You can put a picture of your face over any motion cartoon on your phone these days.

I have to agree; I freakin' LOVED this version. I hated the idea that now it's all about the computer age and how virtual reality is taking over especially with the ending.

When you suddenly realize that EPCOT in the late 80s-90s has more style, variety, charm and excessive amount tech, creativity and imagination than today's EPCOT. O.O

What happened was the future caught up with the original EPCOT Center's Future World, but instead of riding with the punches and advancing upon the park's original premise, Disney has given up and made it into the "miscellaneous park".

Couldn't have said it better. They should honestly have just left it completely alone. Even if it was starting to be outdated, it could have served as a time capsule for what the 'future' looked like in the 80's.

Today's EPCOT is about plugging IP's. Sadly, who do you think Disney is going to cater to? The small percentage of nostalgics out there or people who want a new and exciting Guardians of the Galaxy ride?

Yeah, they could’ve continued to update with the latest technology and looking into potential future innovations. Instead, they got lazy and decided to go with the global community approach and throwing in some Disney IPs for the sake of broader appeal.

I miss this version of Spaceship Earth. I remember is as a kid and even calling my godfather on one of those giant telephones in the Global Neighborhood. I bet present day me would get chills at that finale. The current version just lacks the charm this one has.

THIS version was a masterpiece. When my then-girlfriend (whose favorite ride at the time was this Irons edition) and I rode the Dench version for the first time, when we walked out she cried. Literally CRIED.

I was sooo disappointed when I rode the new version as well. I can't believe they replaced the music, the fiberoptics and the extra scenes all for some stupid iPad. Disney is losing their touch....

I was too young to really remember the Irons version well enough, but whenever I watched the home videos my family made of this ride the ending would always make me tear up a little, it is just so beautiful. A real work of art

lol I agree! I think Living with the Land is the only ride that is still the same from the 90s. Maelstrom is gone as is Wonders of Life and Universe of Energy, the Living Seas is now The Seas with Nemo and Friends, ... OMG it’s so different!

18:03 seeing this city scene almost brought me to tears. it was such a beautiful scene, i remember i have been to WDW a few times before 2007 and i remember this scene so much, what a shame it was replaced with a bunch of hanging white christmas lights & mirrors that basically make you trip out and have to do that "bUiLd YoUr OwN fUtUrE" bull shit. Jeremy Irons is also better than Judi Dench, but i like her.

First rode this on my first trip in '96 and remember thinking as a kid, "Why is Scar the voice in here?" What I didn't remember was the sheer extent of extra scenes included during the descent. The current version with the screens-only as you return to the base station really makes me question why Spaceship Earth is the way it is (now). Also, while I like Judi Dench, Jeremy's narration feels more grand and epic, whereas Judi's feels very much like reading from a history book with a slightly cheerful, upbeat tone. Its passable, but can't compare to what came before it.

I remember going on this version as a kid and the beginning scene kind of intimidated me. It was pitch black except for these almost haunting projections on the wall and hearing Jeremy Irons chilling voice.

I remember getting goosebumps when I heard this line back in 1996 at the age of 12. Still gives me goosebumps to think how far we have come with communication technology in the past two decades.

I missed having Walter Cronkite as the narrator, but I still liked Jeremy Irons narration. Also, I really liked this ending sequence. And I thought the American boy talking to the Japanese girl was cool, too (especially since they required a translator). I did miss the whole, "behold, the Sistine Chapel" line. It felt like that needed a "something". But, overall, this was perhaps the best version of this ride.

I was extremely lucky to hear both Walter Kronkite narrating and Jeremy Irons narrating. I went in 1993 with my mom and her then boyfriend and that was when they had Kronkite narrating Spaceship Earth and then went back the year after again with my mom and her then boyfriend and it had changed to Jeremy Irons which is the one I always will remember.

This was the very first attraction my parents took me to when visiting Disney World for the first time. I wish Epcot was still like this and not starting to cater to younger children. I feel way too old to go to Disney now!

@@spectroman71 actually they removed the city diahorama, but the scenes with the windows and mannequins are covered by a tarp, and the ledge over to your upper left still houses the peppers ghost mannequins just partially covered

I honestly loved the Jeremy Irons version better than Judi Dench. I was born in May 1997, and can remember bits and pieces of when the ride was good. I also remember the New Global Neighborhood, so my childhood memory is going back to around 2000 - 2003. Now, the end guest face future video is just crappy, half the time it doesn't even cut out your face correctly let alone find one...

Hey Martin I don't know if you've still got any interest in additional footage for possibly another version of this, but I have a few fairly decent clips of the ride that my dad took back in 2000 and 2006, with the 2006 version being nearly the entire ride, at my request. It's not perfect, but it looks great and the lighting is some of the best I've seen in these camcorder recordings, and I feel it could be a valuable contribution to things. Let me know if you'd like these clips and I'll be happy to send them your way.

They were removed, because the entrance plaza is under going an overhaul. The entrance plaza is almost complete, the thing left for them to do is the lucite fountain.

I love the research and information in your videos, but it is maddening having to stop over and over to read the text on the screen and then look at the images. You'd have a hundred thousand subscribers if you would just use an audio narration instead of typo-filled text. You've put so much work into these, please find a narrator!

All these audio animation figures are telling mostly white Western Europeans history , and viewpoints. They leave Chinese, Native Americans or African contributions. The Chinese invented paper, Indians and Tibetans had their own plays and operas. The Aztecs had the binary code.
