World of Motion was one of my favorite rides at Epcot. It’s sad that it only lasted 14 years. As popular as it was, you would think that they could have updated it over time, and even still incorporated a version of Test Track, without losing the original ride. I guess they didn’t want to go in that direction. I appreciate that tributes like yours exist so that we can continue to relive these great Epcot rides into the future.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Great work, always enjoy-- and especially the music. I just have to say how it saddens me to see what Epcot has become today. The golden era of this park, I feel, has passed. It seems that the once audience that came to be entertained and inspired, a la' Disney, has been replaced by massive crowds wanting a quick thrill, trendy merchandise- and a Fast Pass. Plus, technology is probably outpacing what can feasibly be demonstrated in a worlds fair pavilion-type setting. World of Motion and Horizons were the pinnacle of what Epcot Future World was and if Spaceship Earth wasn't so size restricted (and iconic) that would have likely been long gone too. Anyway, your videos pay tribute to a tremendous effort in art, design, and technology- and the extremely talented people that made it happen in the glory days. It's fun to be free!

Thank you for yet another fantastic video. This attraction was more Disney, timeless, relevant, family friendly!! Test track holds nothing over this attraction. All they had to do was update it periodically to reflect the new years.
@jimbodeek Жыл бұрын
Test Track was added because Disney felt EPCOT needed a thrill ride… Something that could appeal to older audiences. And World of Motion, well… It wasn’t raking in the crowds as it had in its early years. But even with the replacement of World of Motion, Test Track retains the transportation theme, albeit with more focus on cars than just transportation in general. The original 1999 Test Track placed emphasis on the near future of transportation by showing how modern cars were put through their paces. And the current version leans more into the future aesthetic by showing how concept cars are designed and how virtual reality (the SimTrack) allows designers to simulate the various conditions a car has to face during operation.

It is always amazing to me how I seem to remember things from the 80s, when I was a kid, better than I remember what I did yesterday. I vividly remember the feeling of moving out of the load area and into the spiral that lead to the show upstairs. It was so unique for a ride to leave the building for a few moments. I also remember getting as close to the front rail of the bird and robot show as I could each time my father and I visited the pavilion. I would count down with bird as the show began. Another great video as always Martin. I'm playing catch up today on some of your more recent ones and I feel like I'm back home in the EPCOT of the 80s. :)

A slow ride like World of Motion evolving into a high-octane, fast ride called Test Track is QUITE an evolution! How I wished I could've visited Epcot as a kid of the 90s. At least then, Disney was all about original attractions in its sister parks instead of ride adaptations of existing shows or movies.
@renrukachan3 жыл бұрын
The 80s and 90s, were pretty epic. It was more low key, relaxing. No apps to worry about. I'm sorry you didn't get to experience it. That was the hay day in my opinion. Lots of rides were just so cool, and Epcot was more of a place to learn about history, science, and the future.

While I do enjoy Test Track, I very much miss this ride. This was definitely one of my go-to's whenever I visited the park (which was plenty once I moved to Orlando). It was a lot of fun entertainment. The Water Engine was my show of choice. I remember I started to watch other screens when it wasn't their turn to talk (e.g. the superhero who did the Electro-Magnet engine had imagines of a doll with needles in it when the little girl put holes in his idea). Interesting that while burning the hydrogen was an option, using it with a fuel cell wasn't (at least, not in the show). I was also curious why GM didn't try to actually market the Lean Machine. Of all of their ideas, that one seemed closest to being marketable. They had some cool ideas for the future.

Awesome! Horizons will always be my all-time favorite ride at Disney, and people still talk (duly) about the original Journey into Imagination, but I've always felt that World of Motion and the original incarnation of Spaceship Earth don't get near the due they deserve. I live in Birmingham, AL, so maybe I'm just particularly sensitive to an administration that doesn't understand or fully document unique buildings and attractions before demolishing them, but MAN, I wish Disney would have had the foresight to capture some of these rides in a VR-style, or maybe something that could be hobbled into such. If anyone ever had the foresight to do something like that, you'd think it'd be the staff at WDW. Later generations will only be able to hear about how cool EPCOT was, especially when compared to Epcot, and watch tributes and ultimately low-quality, non-interactive videos on KZbin. That kinda kills me.

This building looked like it was WAY more suited for Wonders of Life. The dark ride upstairs would take you through the human body: the circulatory system where you pass through a valve in the heart; wind effects as you go through the respiratory system; getting rocked around as you are in the digestive system; and then you end up in the nervous system with electricity effects coming from a giant brain as you descend. The lower areas would have a theatre to explain the reproductive system, a display/shooting game against viruses for the immune system, Cranium Command to showcase the endocrine (hormone) system, and interactive games for the skeletal and muscular systems. As well as a restaurant for nutrition stuff.

I was in line for Test Track last night, and thinking to myself- "Boy, would this crowd be bored to tears if this was still World of Motion." All because everyone today is so wired to flashy, ADHD-catering attractions. Although I do have to say, of all the original Epcot attractions, this one I think would have aged the worst: I mean it was mostly a bunch of recycled Pirates of the Caribbean audio-animatronics, animated screen projections, very slow moving cars, and the dry-humor narration. While I wish it was still here, I think it could have definitely benefited from some kind of enhancements/refurbishments to make it just a little more exciting if it had stayed over the years.
