If one were to be completely optimistic about every last scheduled test going well (and I highly doubt that), there is absolutely no way to get the whole system crew certified and get the supposed lander ready within that timeframe.

I am just a kiwi guy who has hundreds of friends, and has been following starships journey for ages. I don't know the time exactly, I think a few months before star hoppers flight was announced, but the reason I am posting this is because out of the hundreds of friends I encounter and task with daily today, they do not have no clue that humans have a massive rocket and booster (starship) getting ready to take humans to the moon again... I feel so alone in my circle haha, however, I'm sooooo excited to see the next test flight. And I'm positive we are going to witness a launch and recovery of starship... Yay🎉 thanks Felix and shout out to Marcus House, you both have been my go-to media channels for this journey!❤

2:33 The ground shifting? If that is the case that platform shouldn’t be used as it is on unstable ground. Yes the ground will shift, or settle to be precise, under any large structure but this settlement would be very slow, like couple cm at most during the life span of the building, so if the ground beneath the pad is shifting at such a rate that it can effect the stacking that pad is not on stable ground. Before anyone points it out, no it can't be the innitial settlement due the the starships weight as that would only happen AFTER it has been placed on top of the booster

I wonder, about space stations... what would be cheaper/better? Send modules, one by one, and assemble up there? Or just commission one (two? three?) modified Starships, and just mate them up there?
@dphuntsman
@dphuntsman 3 ай бұрын
The answer is: You want a competitive industry- and CHOICE- not just a single answer, not just a single program. You want different companies, with different business models,and different technologies,providing different capabilities- and CHOICE. You don’t want just one single ‘solution’. I was a very proud member of the space shuttle team; but, the single biggest lesson learned from coming up with the single ‘solution’ to everything space launch and operations was…to never, ever, do anything like that, again. - Dave Huntsman
@sysbofh
@sysbofh 3 ай бұрын
@@dphuntsman A competitive industry isn't made by "I will choose another one just because". This path leads to incompetency. And I am not advocating it: I'm EXACTLY asking what would be better/cheaper. What WOULD be, not "we should do this".

Using Starship to haul modules would be better. Starship's affordability is tied to its reusability. It's essentially a space truck.
@sysbofh
@sysbofh 3 ай бұрын
@@davidbonk1672 That's one way to do it. But I wonder... Those modules aren't cheap, and last time I heard, Spaceex had spent just about 5 billion on the entire starbase AND prototypes. I think the whole "let's just use stainless steel" results in a far cheaper thing.

Ground shifting ! That could continue for a long time. They had better build a wider foundation for the next tower, just in case, to avoid a repeat of that tower in San Francisco which has been sinking for years now. They might have to make the tower base bigger to distribute the overturning force that tall tower has on the base, over a bigger area. Surveying should be able to determine what shifted or bent. The ground could be compacting from the enormous vibration caused by the rocket noise.

They could do with having motorised rubber rollers on each arm, or some sort of conveyor belt on each arm as the point of contact between Starship and Mechazilla to be able to rotate, move in or move out the Starship between the arms. This would give them full control over every axis when stacking.

@@bryanillenberg Elongation? As a manufacturer does it make sense to make 2 versions of the same ship? They're progressively adding the fueling hardware. Like the Metal Stringers all along the side of the fuselage. The plan may be the plan but a plan without a prototype, especially when its someone elses money is just that. A plan. IE Nothing. They need to physically show that in some way the progress to their plan is being made. Maybe they want to compare stacking with ships 28 and 29 to see which modifications work the best during certain procedures? More than 1 stacking event maybe?

@@DoItMyselfGarage okay. Got it, But I wanter to ask whether the wall of starship (what we see with our eyes) or tanks (that lies inside of it.) 4mm thick tank is understandable if reinforced with wall properly, 4 mm of wall however it's bull crap it's more like 4-5 cm.
@DoItMyselfGarage
@DoItMyselfGarage 3 ай бұрын
@@fenilkheni9494 The wall is the tank. This is why one of the early Starships collapsed when it was empty. They didn't have enough reinforcements in place to support it's own weight. It is quite a feat of engineering.
