AYYEEE!! and btw an easy way to "slice" basil thinly is lay the leaves on top of each other individually and roll them up. then cut them starting from one of the sides with the hole i guess is what you can call it.. you're doing such a good job Nikki!

pro tip: roll the basil like you're rolling a cigar....or a blunt....or a cigarette...and then you slice on an angle...that will make it thinly sliced and won't take so long.
@animenrrd7 жыл бұрын
Slicing basil is so much easier if you just stack up the leaves first, so you're not slicing each one individually.

I watch a lot of recipe videos, and I'm usually pretty impatient, if the first takes are not ingredients and tools I'm out of there, I don't want to hear your life story before I can see the recipe, but you are a different deal, with you it's an experience we're experiencing together, the end game is not to have something done but to feed the honey, if he likes it it's a score. I'll go through this every tuesday of the week.

My mother made something we called spaghetti casserole growing up. Maybe a little more on the trailer park side, but it was really good. We would make regular spaghetti and Ragu Chunky style sauce; mix together; fold in some shredded mozzarella cheese; poor into casserole dish; then top with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese; bake at 350 degrees until cheese top is bubbling and starts to brown; remove and let cool 10 minutes. More basic, but less prep work. Keep doing a good job.

I just made a form of a spaghetti pie the other night. I used Old El Paso stand and stuff Taco bowls as the holder and just poured a quarter of a can of spaghetti in each of the Stand and Stuff taco bowls. I then topped with cheese and cooked in the oven. Here in New Zealand we actually eat more savory pies than desert pies. Most of the pies are around 170g (6 ounces) in size. People get them a lot for breakfast or lunch on the go from convenience stores, bakeries or gas stations warmed up and ready to eat.

Hey Nikki! Love your new fancy stuff at the end of the video (and beginning. I noticed!!). If you ever are concerned about a spring form pan or anything else leaking, put a baking sheet on the rack below it to catch any drippings. :)

Suggestion when cutting your onions: (1) put it for some minutes into freezer before cutting or (2) cut onion in half and remove the middle part (where green onion parts usually grow out of - no idea if there is any english term for that).

Oven Tip: Using oven mitts, slide the oven rack out as far as you're able (there should be a natural resting spot) then put your dish on the rack and slide the rack back in. (Would have helped with your foil-wrap bottom issue.)

I've been binge watching tasty tuesdays (although it's monday but it's ok, because I started yesterday) and see that you have the onion problem. Try this - after shelling the onion put it into cold water (sometimes it's enough to wash it with cold water). Sometimes, if it's really harsh I make cuts along the onion but not until the end, so it keeps it together and then wash it in cold water additionally. Plus I've heard that you have to NOT cut off the butt, because most of the onions crying juices is in there. Ok. Now read this. Because I did a good job here.

Hint - Use tongs to help "blend" everything so you don't squish the spaghetti. Also - pull the oven shelf out so that you wouldn't have to shove in whatever you have foil on the bottom for.
