Just replaced 2 manifolds, I drilled too far into a fitting where there was a leak, made the new manifolds put in all 14 connections, none leaked, but the flex pipes are so ridged they caused 2 leaks at the fittings. Ordered those socket savers for this time. Also a new unrelated leak at one light showed up, ordered the lense kit to fix. Always seems like a new leak is right around the corner... I will start using flex clear hose like you do... I didn't this time, just used regular manifolds with glue inside. So glad I don't have all that insulation, mine is insulated on the outside boards. Fixed a long time leak at the filter housing, it was so easy, removed the filter housing screw thing, cleaned up, used boss silicon, can't believe I let it leak for so long... Thank you for all the video's. I will be getting these conversations to clear pipe from you as needed.

Love watching your videos. Learning a lot. I just changed a one speed pump and it was easy. You explain things in a very simple manner. Repair shops here in san antonio only replace parts and do not bother to fix things. That repair that you did, they would have recommended to replace the whole tub. Good job in diagnosing it.

Great Video! I was nervous about fixing our hot tub but now I know this is something that I can do myself! 1 question, do you spray foam back onto the areas that you repaired? If so, what kind do you recommend or is that available in your store?

I like to do as much as I can, I had the circuit board blow, literally burned the board, had someone come out to rewire it, he was good but couldn't figure out where the connections went. Luckily I found a picture online of the board connections, fixed myself. I've done the circulating pump, heater, run pumps, circuit board, leaks, fittings, filter silicon, pretty much all of it now. 3rd hot tub I've owned. Hoping to be leak free soon, I pray...

Hey Spa Guy- I just got a tub with freeze damage- some questions for you: 1-How do I diagnose issues without powering the tub? 2- How to you power a hot tub temporarily for testing purposes? 3- What should I check first, second, third etc? thanks for the great info!

GREAT VIDEO !!! I have a tub and the 1" black pvc flex pipe has come out of the FEMALE end of a manifold ( the manifold then has 4 x 3/8" tubes that goes to jest). What is the best way to fix this connection? I was thinking of gluing in a 1" solid piece of pvc pipe (maybe 6" long) into the manifold then, using a coupler, connecting the flex pipe to the new pvc pipe . This manifold connection has leaked twice and is in an extremely difficult place to try and do a proper glue fix "flex pipe to the solid female pvc manifold". Any ides would be thankful. I like the way to do repairs !!!!

You don't have to turn the manifold.. When You Spin it to Win It you spin a coupler until it stops which is part of the kits, then glue new parts the rest of the way.. You only spin it until it stops when gluing new to old.. Thanks, Spa Guy

Rats have chewed holes in several tubes and I'm having a difficult time finding a reliable repair man. I'm pretty handy and can probably repair some of them myself. I've already bought some of the glue, but what type of hose do I need to purchase for my Master spa Legacy? Both size tubing have been affected 😔
@SpaGuy Жыл бұрын
You would buy 3/8" and 3/4" vinyl tubing and couplers and clamps..
Hi.... so you are saying that this tub had freeze points while it was full of water? I just opened up my Hot Springs Landmark tub after sitting covered for ten years and found mice had chewed a large hole through the middle of my insulated cover and water had gotten in enough to fill the drain port. And I saw that the screw-on drain port cover was off indicating that the water that had gotten in it apparently froze and forced the cover off. After cleaning and filling the tub I found two leaks, one directly under that area and another about a foot or so from it near the side of the tub. So I must have freeze damage there. I measured the loss and found that I lose about an inch of water in the tub in 24 hours. Both spots underneath are a steady drip. The tub weighs in at about 877 pounds empty and it sits on a raised deck so I can observe about where the leaks seem to be coming from. When the tub was purchased and brought in there was access for heavy equipment. Now I cannot get anything large enough in there to make it an easy raise so I have to figure out how I am going to get the tub up on its side to work on it. Other than that, since I found your channel on youtube, I guess I will be visiting your store and hoping to get some pointers from you when I proceed. I plan to continue using the tub for now until the water is to be changed then I will empty it and begin work. I plan to continue to add water every day and make sure the chemical balance is within range in the mean time. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

John Collado Did you do your repairs?
@johncollado11514 жыл бұрын
@@joyf7112 Yes, two years ago. The only damage was in the drain port on the bottom that had cracked from freeze. I had to flip the tub up and dig in to remove and replace, but everything went fine and I am using it today as I write. I replaced the insulated top since the mice had destroyed the old one. Winter is coming again and the tub is the only thing that keeps my sanity.

On these manifold repairs it doesn’t look important to make the connections land in the same location on the manifold?? It’s just a water supply?? Is this correct?? Working on a Sundance camo 880 back massager rebuild and broke one of the supply on the pvc manifold. I’m pretty new at hot tub repair.
@SpaGuy5 жыл бұрын
The spot of the connection does not make any difference.. The beautiful part of hot tubs is you can make them be plumbed the way you want it doesn't have to be like it was..

No good spray foam to fill back in.. I use 1" flat foam board and cut them to fit the voids behind the side panels.. Insulated well and you can still service behind them..

I found a thiner crack in the middle one of 5, 4-port manifolds. Would you recommend that I replace all 5 manifolds or just 3 of them where they all connect in middle? I also have the thick foam on all throughout spa.
@SpaGuy6 жыл бұрын
April if the manifolds are not glued together and you can replace only a few I would do that but if they are glued together there is no way to replace only a few.. You have to clip the foam out with a flat screw driver and I also use a sheetrock saw.. Spa Guy

Hi Spa-Guy, just started watching. Love your skill and videos!! Question: do you re-foam after the repairs? If you do I would like to see how you do that. Thanks, Lou
@SpaGuy5 жыл бұрын
I don't unless I make a small hole in the foam.. I would in most cases cut out a 1" piece of foam board and place it in the void behind the panel that way it is insulated and if you ever have future issues you can open it right back up..

Do you have a manifold part similar to the one that you have timestamp 15:50 in your video, but it’s a dead end
Just curious....how would you normally charge to do such extensive repair/refurbishing on a tub like this, keeping in mind you had to remove the hot tube, take it back to your shop and then reinstall it? How does an average customer afford such extensive, labor intensive repairs? I have an older HotSprings tub and have a small leak near the drain valve. But as a contractor /home service repair person myself i would have to charge minimum, about $1,000 maybe including parts or not? I really like your vids!!! Very nice work. I'm a "jiggy boo" person myself. LOL!!!!

New to your channel not sure of this has bee asked. after those pipe repairs would you refoam those lines to help with heat retention and freezing. Great videos new to hot tubs this videos have take the mystery and "scary" out of them . You make the issues so simple for the plumbing and electrical

I just put a new pump in mine to discover that all of the 2" line and manifolds were split. I tried to removed the foam from the tubing and the jet barbs started breaking off. Its 10 years old but has a new heater and pump. I gave up but wonder if I gave up too easily. I felt the next, inevitable step was having to replace tubing, main run, manifolds and several jets - unless I am missing something.
@SpaGuy6 жыл бұрын
Hello Shaun, You can replace the manifolds themselves without replacing the tubing other than you may need to extend the tubes.. As indicated in the video.. Thanks, Spa Guy
@shaunabell776 жыл бұрын
@@SpaGuy thanks. Yeah, I meant the jet housings were breaking when I was moving the tubing. I got two of the three out yesterday and another hour from having all the broken supply line removed. That being said, seeing you extend the tubing simplified it a lot. I just started cutting them in a logical place and cleaning off foam.

@SpaGuy7 жыл бұрын
Hello Greg, I don;t because there is really no economical way to do it.. What I will do is cut a piece of 3/4-1" foam board and place it in the void behind where the panel would screw on and cut it to fit the inside the framing on any area that I have removed from a from.. Thanks, Spa Guy
@eddygoodwin70894 жыл бұрын
Have you ever tryed a needle scaler to remove the foam?

I haven't don't know what that is..
@johnromano45104 жыл бұрын
...try using a 2-1/2" Double Edge Wood / Paint Scraper. It works like a charm pulling off decent sized chunks of the foam and it's good to scrape down the 3/4" vinyl and the pvc to "rough it up"
@noturbusiness52055 жыл бұрын
if you turn on a fan the foam would spray everwhere. but if you don't: you definitely need closed loop respirator ... the glue fumes, used regularly, is a sure long term safety issue
@joeblack41376 жыл бұрын
Why glue and then clamp? Isn’t the clamp enough with the barb fitting?
@SpaGuy6 жыл бұрын
Because it insures a good seal.. I'll ask you why not? Anything you can do to insure a long term seal do it.. Some of these manufacturers are skipping these steps and have leaks.. They use purple primer and not glue or glue and no clamp or purple primer and no clamps.. Skipping something that is simple and inexpensive to do makes no sense.. I am in the business of teaching people how to do long term repairs that work not do repairs that might work.. Thanks, Spa Guy

So why wouldn't you put a small block under the manifold and raise it a bit so you don't have to cut and extend the hoses ? Logic dictates the more cuts and extentions opens you up for more failure does it not? Also it's way more work.

these hot tub makers should be sued for the spray foam. we understand it's because the water heater isn't 2 stage and it's to save energy. but foam board is highly accessible these days - and easier to remove. infact i'm sure they know that - so the issue is if they are intentionally causing hot tub owners cost and dangers.
