Ist "außergewöhnlich" das richtige Wort? Absolutely! A superb series, Maestro. An opportunity to see so many techniques and idea, ja, und, denke ich, "Leidenschaft" .....

You must be very proud of your achievements Steffen. This is certainly a masterpiece. The question is what type of mind created this piece all those years ago?

Great series as always and interesting that you used the German/English? spelling for the calendar wheel, not French like the days of the week. Stay safe!

I am very grateful for all your sharing in these videos and your books (which are fantastic!). When you were “rubbing” the dial while it was set in its ring, were you burnishing the edge of the ring over the dial? Too hold it in place?

How did the paper (Month) dial magically turn into a metal (enamel) dial?
@therealrepete2 жыл бұрын
Looks like a dial blank was in the large stump on the staking tool. The small piece of (double sided tape?) was laid down in the edge of the stump. The paper blank was trimmed and a hole put into its center. Then while holding the paper above the blank and adhesive on the side, a centering punch was used to lay it exactly over the center of the dial blank and then smooth it down onto the adhesive on the side. The brass button had a nib on the under sided (sized for the hole previously marked into the paper blank?) that looks the have centered it below and a mating spot for another punch on the upper side. One sharp strike and it acted as a paper cutter. Like a metal disc punch set would. I would think there was adhesive on the dial blank already to avoid the need to repeat all that alignment work again. Just punch it right into the correct position. Just my thought. But could be way off. :)

*You are a master watch maker Steffen 👍 This is quality work. I would love to see you make an entire watch from the beginning. Do you have any designs in mind for such a project ?*
@spahlow2 жыл бұрын
I see, read, and understand you like watchmaking, you asked, yes I made some pocket watches from scratch, look my videos on KZbin or find the answer by getting my website ask for Steffen Pahlow, keep healthy

@@spahlow And I see, read, and understand you, Sir. 👀. I was apprenticed @ 8 years of age to a local watchmaker. He used to hand me an old shoebox full of watches and clocks he could not fix, and I repaired them all. My hope and quest today is to see the development of a mechanicle watch which keeps accurate chronometry equal to a quartz watch, and doesn't require lubrification, which dries out and impedes the function of the movement.
