Spain honours International Brigade veterans

Of the 2,500 who volunteered to join the fight against Franco's fascists, only a handful survive. Yesterday, seven of them travelled to the Spanish embassy in London to receive Spanish passports in recognition of their actions. They tell their stories here

my most deeply thank you to all this brave man who fought and died for freedom in Spain. Shame that still today Spain is ruled by the sucsesors of your murderers and all the people that they killed has been forgoten. But i dont forget you and all the people who fought for the Republic. Albert Foucek my grand uncle volunteered from Omaha Nebraska with his brother my grandfather George (19) Albert was killed at the Ebro with the Mac-Pap’s near Gandessa by the Italian Blackshirts. Grandpa made it home in 39.
