Yes, pressure from the global north on the global south is forcing world wide migration. Think of it as a backlash to colonialism. In the US, there is ongoing, strong colonial style pressure to encourage that movement. The backlash seems like a cover as teh government takes strong action to pressure those countries to have their populations move and markets to the people there to make them want to move.

@ScottAlanMillerVlogАй бұрын
In what way? Best in what way? Which politicians? Barcelona is complex. It's a conquered territory that went through a quasi-genocide and had their language and identity stripped away. Now it is fighting for its identity. It got turned into a tourist center because it's so well positioned and cool. But it's so overrun with tourists that even as a tourist, it's not nearly as interesting as it should be.
@ScottAlanMillerVlogАй бұрын
How are immigrants going to Barcelona of all places? It's the least affordable. The locals AND the tourists must have to leave first to leave space for them? Oddly, no one in Barcelona is ever complaining about them. @ScottAlanMillerVlogАй бұрын
@ChrisCokeRobinson it's generally considered very wrong for a country to require a visa when coming from one of its colonies. One of the reasons why it is so unacceptable that the US makes it so hard for legal transit or tourist to the US from Nicaragua. Nicaraguans can actually travel decently heavily world wide. Their passport isn't bad, except that the US and Canada don't let them in. Being so close, it makes it feel limited when it really isn't.

Maybe instead of forbidding and hassling tourists/travelers Europe should deny all the "social media influencers". Thats when Europe really changed. Everyone needs that selfie to put on their "social media" page that no one really gives a Sh!t about.
@ScottAlanMillerVlogАй бұрын
So that's a pretty tough thing. How do you do that without forbidding journalism? Imagine telling families... sorry, no family photos here. That will change the concept of travel really quickly. What will you do, confiscate phones? Being a "social media influencer" isn't a definable thing. 99.99% of people taking those selfies are just normal people on holiday taking their holiday pics. Not influencers. Influencers are few and far between, but they are also the group that drives business to locations that they promote. I think the hassle here is a fraction of the hassle it would be to attempt to stop people from taking holiday photos in the real world. I don't even have a good idea of how that would be possible.

@ScottAlanMillerVlogАй бұрын
@FishingWorldTraveler 1) why would you say something about being allowed to have an opinion when he was clear that opinion was not related to the situation 2) as a blanket out of context statement - no, no one anywhere should be allowed to just "do anything". But that's not what the situation was about either. Did you watch the video? You've got two things that are needed here. First, you need to understand what he says the issue IS. I've never seen anyone mention or discuss what the issue was (except him, obviously.) He's clear about what it was, but everyone posting makes up other reasons that he never claims and that make no sense. Once you understand what the issue is, THEN you can have a conversation about whether or not you agree with that logic. But we don't know anything other than what he is telling us, but listening to only his side of the situation, I can tell you, no one has been willing to actually discuss it because it's a very different thing than people want it to be.
@ScottAlanMillerVlogАй бұрын
Well we don't know any details. A guy I don't know made that claim from the US. I have no reason to doubt him. But I have no info at all. He's not an expat so nothing relatable to my experiences. And no other information, no other side exists. So it's not really something to have an opinion about. This is a situation between him and his government, nothing to do with any of us. Unless you have access to the full details of the situation that don't exist online, none of us can form an opinion as we just don't have the information to do so. But one thing we know FOR SURE, your information is incorrect. He was super clear that he was told it had absolutely nothing to do with him being a KZbinr. So I know two facts: 1) that we don't know enough for anyone to have an opinion on the situation and 2) nearly everyone discussing it is doing so for the purpose of spreading fake news and false panic because even he was crystal clear that it was related to his involvement with a foreign agent and totally unrelated to his youtube activity. You should watch his video before posting something like that. You are upset about a situation that didn't happen.

I asked him if he thought anyone in Britain in 1945 could have envisioned most of the empire gone or disappearing in just a few years as it did in 1948? He has no answer. Whose rights exactly? You are projecting your personal (or US/Western) expectations and ideas of 'rights' onto a sovereign nation.
