Housing crises - Just stop possibility for companies to buy houses - only high-rises more than 3 floors and they have to rent out on permanent basis. If private people buy appartments or house more than their home, they should pay part of their tax in the area where they own an appartment and house. Big companies are playing with house prices, so they can gain tax deduction and borrow extra money with houses as security. Many houses is empty more than 9 month every year. This is not only a problem in Spain !

Extra taxes on second homes would force hundreds of thousands of families to give up their inherited family homes in the small villages, causing an even faster growth of empty Spain.
@allanfrost2855

@@gundalfx Small villages ? Look in Barcelona, Valencia, Nerja, Granada, Malaga - how many houses is Airbnb - it is crazy. But non of the people who rent out pay tax in those cities. If family houses is left by the family why should it be vacant? But I refer to appartments in big cities - start there :)

Hey Stu. Thanks for the channel. My wife and I enjoy it. Regarding Starbucks, we were in Gijon recently and decided to grab a cuppa. Full disclosure: we’re Americans who live in New York and recently purchased a flat in Pola de Lena, Asturias. We find Spanish coffee good but slightly bitter. Being able to have a cafe con leche de soja was a treat for us. And this particular Starbucks is very nicely decorated.

Well, on the topic of homelessness, i would add other things to consider, such as not ending up in the sea with your house inside or elements like tsunamis, tornadoes, cyclones, blowing the house of your dreams, after a thousand mortgages, over your head, ,.,.,.. and other accidents that could occur along the way.

Absolutly not, no one has the made up right to steel other peoples hard earned cash to buy stuff for the bone idle. Life style choice is mostly the cause homelessness though not always, some need to learn phrases like "responsibility" and "earn your keep". In the 90's we had to leave the area we grew up and live where we could find work. Now in this narcissistic era of big tech and of everything's my right, some people want to take other peoples stuff off them and sit on there butts to much. In the uk the 50 somethings are being cleaned out of there savings and pensions being forced to support people that couldn't give a monkies todger. Tax the crap out of the billionaire's for your free houses, not the people that work and save

Spain's govt plan to bring in close to one million people, mostly from Africa, over the next 3 years. The main stated reason is to support the welfare system. How will this help improve housing availability and affordability? And still unemployment sits around 11% (overall) and closer to 20% for youth (18-25). Maybe the politicians are availing themselves of the booming cannabis market. Might explain their policy.

Having a right to seek housing is good but having a right to housing means to necessarily force others to build it for you which is forced labor. This is morally wrong. The main reason for the housing crisis everywhere is government and their long red tape process to get permits and also "green ideology" where they prevent housing from beung constructed in mny places or puts obstaclesnto get permits.

The right for X (not just housing) doesn’t mean forced labor (what a joke to imply that) but fines, audits and other penalties for the community which you in turn pay via your taxes.
