Squatters are frightening from experience. Police said these were serial squatters who were well known to them and they were not able to offer any assistance. Had to use another route to get property back.

I understand that Texas does not have a squatting problem. In England and Wales, once squatting was made a criminal offence around 15 years ago, it stopped just like that.
@moonmist92 күн бұрын
It is criminal and should be treated as such.

Education First is the best place for immersive learning especially the Romance languages . Expensive but highly regarded.Also my youngest did a 9 month university based program in Santiago De Compostela in 2017 where it was no English 5 days a week . Very intensive but he was fluent in 3 years.

6 months to get squatters out - if you are lucky; I have always wondered myself about the thin line between someone breaking in to your home and steal your belongings versus a squatter doing the same over a longer period of time and even legal; damn right it should be addressed through criminal channels in Spain justice system… So you have been able to get them removed, but what about all damages done, belongings they stole etc Politicians that support squatting are under the assumption that a house is abandoned, not in use anyways… - but all these cases against squatters to get them evicted show the contrary; it’s people going on holidays and returning to find their home occupied - how is that even possible in Spanish law... wait for another 6 months? The 48 hours grace period for the aquatters is a farce..

The homeowners should be able to turn off the gas and electricity. That would get them out in a hurry. It's like the government doesn't want to solve this problem...I wonder why.

My brother had a tenant who decided to stop paying rent in April 2020 . He just moved out with a relocation payment of $25 thousand and rent free for 40 months.

MoT stations in the UK are centrally linked and any dodgy ones would be soon identified and prosecuted by Police stopping vehicles.

Regarding the Albufera is there going to be a shortage of Bomba rice? I would assume so. Think I'm going to stock up now.

Regarding the environment, just think for a moment of the carbon footprint of 88.5 million tourists. If we won't our planet to continue to support human life, then we urgently need to curtail foreign travel. Thank you for the news Update Stuart, hope you, and your family have a good 2025. 👍

The old vehicules, this is the problem with the monetary system. You might have a bright shiny fantastic Tesla all electric and glorious however, as long as poverty exits, you are NOT safe in car. The poor person driving the beat up old car will crash into yours. That is part of the hidden causality of that accident

Cost wise, old vehicles are better than new ones. You can maintain them yourself, theyre more durable and they're cheaper to buy. The regulations against these cars are usually unjustified. European regulations that are increasing by the year are NOT going to save the planet. Go to India. One city in India puts out more pollution than all of Spain. I'm not saying carbon monoxide isn't a problem, its just that only a few countries are taking it seriously and they cannot save the planet alone.

I love those pre 2000 diesels without turbos. They last forever, particularly Mercedes-Benz, Skoda, VW, Peugeot and Citroën. The fact that a car lasts for 30+ years and clocks over 500 k km in my opinion is better for the environment over the cars lifetime than cars that last 100 k. Some of these old cars don't pay CO2 tax as they run on very little diesel, 3.5 to 4.5 litres per 100 km. The trouble is that particulate emissions are rather high. I believe that we can not fight wars in all fronts and that we should aim at reducing CO2 concentrations immediately, rather than wage a war on particulate emissions. To make my point clear I will use the following example. There is a growing trend in the UK to ban wood stoves because of particulate emissions, however, in my opinion it is far better for the environment to burn wood, which is a renewable energy source than heat your home using coal or gas powered electricity. I do disagree on not cutting CO2 emissions because other countries are not doing so. We have to set the trend and every little bit helps, also renewable are getting cheaper and creating more jobs than fossil fuels.

Ellie, why do you doubt the Spanish government's even begun to address these issues? What evidence do you have? Yesterday I was talking to a friend who lives in Valencia and the damage done to the Albufera is immense and it falls upon the Generalitat Valencia to direct the process. I am sure the central government has already started to work on this issue and is ready to aid the provincial government in their clean up efforts, but it cannot be done overnight. The clean up of the area will take months if not years.
