Any idea if I would be able to just make a whole body out of one piece of spalted maple or if I really need to have the bottom piece of a different wood? thanks!

You can but you will need to stabilize the wood, particularly if it has a lot of spalting. Otherwise, the wood will be too soft. You might try flooding it with resin.

I wonder if and how you will fill the holes of your top ? It really looks awesome already

The plan is to fill the holes with crushed turquoises and either epoxy or CA glue

Out of curiosity, did u have to stabilize the spalted maple? I just bought a few boards of spalted maple for guitar tops and they seem pretty stable already but haven’t been able to find any information if I should use some stabilizer liquid to harder the wood before using them to carve.

I used a wood hardener from Minwax. In hindsight, the wood hardener worked well, but resin probably would have been better.
