The 1984 version was the truly great one. Never be able to be replicated. It was a time when those British bands and singers who were there were actually the biggest acts In The World! Haven't happened again since the 80s.

Nobody can live up to the original Maybe because I was 11 when it was released and things like that back then were massive, we was lucky to have so much to look forward to rather than everything being saturated by the Internet.

Totally agree. Funny though how there’s no mention in the 2024 mash up of the Stock, Aitken & Waterman collaboration from 1989. Seems to have been airbrushed out of sight.

@@RsR6969I think Gary admires Tony’s talent, but it annoys him that he can’t get a grip on him as a person. They’re better off without each other

@@j.schermer3523 I don’t think I could have summed up the relationship between the two of them any better. As a die hard Spandau fan for over 40 years, it was just disappointing that having worked so hard to bury their differences in 2008 and reform, that things became fractured again causing Tony to leave the band once and for all in 2017. As you say, better off without each other.

@@RsR6969 somehow I do understand Gary’s behaviour towards Tony after he left. He’s really frustrated about the whole situation. But I don’t have any respect for Martins behaviour. Him and Tony were really friends. To treat a friend as bad as Martin did is appalling.

@@lee2323 They were actually not quite so big in 1984. The Live Aid the next year sort of revived their careers mainly due to their showmanship.

Something very likeable about Gary kemp . He was in the blockbuster of 1992 which was The Bodyguard. Writing True and Gold he is virtually immortal.
