Over analysing the lyrics in the song ‘ yes we know it doesn’t snow at Christmas’ ‘ yes, we do know what Christmas is’ taking the song too bloody literally, instead of appreciating the effort made at the time. It sickens me, when the younger generation always poke holes in everything gone before.

I was 13 when this took place. I remember an announcement on the news that a charity single was being recorded that weekend. Looking back, the 1980s - and especially the years '83 to '86 - were a great era for pop music. Loads of great artists and songs. We really knew - and took an interest in - the charts. Hard to imagine now, but even buying and album was a bit of a luxury. Seeing your favorite artists on tv or in magazines was almost like glimpsing into another world.
