ARMY__________________________________________________________________________________________
The Spanish Army consists of 15 active brigades and 6 military regions. Modern infantry have diverse capabilities and this is reflected in the varied roles assigned to them. There are four operational roles that infantry battalions can fulfill: air assault, armored infantry, mechanized infantry, and light role infantry.
NAVY__________________________________________________________________________________________
Under the command of the Spanish Admiral Chief of Naval Staff, stationed in Madrid, the Spanish Navy has four area commands:
-Cantabrian Maritime Zone with its headquarters at Ferrol on the Atlantic coast
-Straits Maritime Zone with its headquarters at San Fernando near Cadiz
-Mediterranean Maritime Zone with its headquarters at Cartagena
-Canary Islands Maritime Zone with its headquarters at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
AIR FORCE_____________________________________________________________________________________
Spain currently has 10 fighter squadrons, each with 18-24 airplanes. The air force also has 15 operational air bases around the country. The air force operates a wide-ranging fleet of aircraft, from fighters to transport aircraft and passenger transports to helicopters. It maintains some 450 aircraft in total, of which around 130 are fighter aircraft (Eurofighter Typhoons and F-18 MLU).

España diseña y fabrica fragatas de muy avanzada tecnología (clase F-100 y las nuevas F-110 en curso de fabricación), portaaeronaves, submarinos, cazaminas, buques de asalto anfibio, buques logísticos, lanchas de desembarco (las fragatas, los portaaeronaves, los buques logísticos, y ahora esperamos que los submarinos, han sido exportados a Noruega, Turquia y Australia). Otra cuestión son los radares y la electrónica dónde la multinacional española INDRA gana todas las licitaciones de la OTAN de radares militares y civiles. También España fabrica armas anticarro y morteros (INSTALAZA) y todo el equipo de combate de los soldados (cascos, chalecos antibalas, uniformes, dispositivos de visión nocturna, armas, y...). Actualmente la industria española está trabajando en la robótica militar, estaciones de armas remotas y armas de defensa de punto (ESCRIBANO), así como en el área de los misiles. Dentro de poco España también dispondrá de su arma láser para buques (está en fase de prototipo). También diseña y fabrica drones y, en asociación europea junto con Alemania, Francia e Italia, el nuevo y gran EURODRONE de ataque. Para que se haga una idea del potencial militar-industrial de España sólo decirle que en 2019 España fue el sexto exportador de armas del mundo y en 2020 fue el quinto. The "circumnavigation" happened by accident, it was not programmed. When Magellan (Magalhães in portuguese) was killed in the Philippines, Elcano took the command. Then to escape rapidly to the portuguese navy he headed to the west instead of going east as expected. That's the reason why the "circumnavigation" was completed. The original purpose of the voyage was to go to the Molucas to establish a comercial route. So, Elcano arrived in Spain in an almost sinking vessel (it would not have survived a couple of days more), with 18 men out of the original 200. Later, Spain succeed to arrive in Molucas, but the "business" was after sold to Portugal.

The problem of the armed forces of "non belligerent" countries and/or non arsenals producers, is that those forces are limited and their duration and effectiveness is very limited in case of an hypothetical confrontation with a major power and we have recent examples of it. Anyway, no war will disturb Spain in the next 100 years (at least). Nevertheless Spanish Armed Forces are, undoubtedly, an important edded value for NATO group of countries.
