Not too long ago I visited your websites because I have been wanting to learn Spanish after reuniting with an old friend from Colombia SA. Now she is inviting me to visit her country next summer. So, I am thinking its about time to get started. I have some experience but not confident using the language. I understand a fair amount but always fall back to my comfort zone speaking English. I think you are an inspiration. I am also impressed with your use of media to teach and coach your followers. Thanks for making this possible for someone like me to gain confidence one day at a time.

This is perfect, I’m reading some comments, saying it’s fast. I guess I’m at an intermediate beginner level because I believe this is on point. I also use Pimsleur which is similar towards what she’s doing which is probably why I can understand faster

‘ si Claro ‘? I hear that a lot. It does not help watching Telemundo or telenovelas. I have stopped watching them after a few years. I used to check out several videos at my library because the subtitles were in English . Now I am back to looking at Bollywood.

Shouldn’t it be “me dio gusto conocerle” or me dio gusto conocerte..? I’ve never heard it used with someone using conocerlo
@EricaRayLanguage3 жыл бұрын
In Latin America you use the direct object pronouns "lo" for a male or "la" for a female. So it would have been "conocerla" had I been speaking to a female, but it's "conocerlo" in this case, as I'm speaking to a male . "Conocerle" is said too, it's quite common in Spain, and is also used here in Mexico sometimes. But as general rule using the direct object pronoun here is considered the most correct. You can Google the term "leísmo" for more info. :)
@jimmychafins3 жыл бұрын
Yea I seen that after I read it on your video I just always thought lo was used for “him” or “it” but speaking to a person you would use te or le for formal..thanks for the lessons though!!
@elcartero68972 жыл бұрын
You are right. 'Me dio gusto conocerlo' would be' it gave me pleasure to meet him. Not sure why she didnt say 'le' here if she is talking to someone directly and formally. You cant really speak informal here because obviously the convo means you have only just met him so you cant really use 'te' but still 'te' is better than 'lo' when saying 'you' Maybe an error
@EricaRayLanguage2 жыл бұрын
I'll copy my response from above :) In Latin America you use the direct object pronouns "lo" for a male or "la" for a female. So it would have been "conocerla" had I been speaking to a female, but it's "conocerlo" in this case, as I'm speaking to a male . "Conocerle" is said too, it's quite common in Spain, and is also used here in Mexico by some individuals. I've also heard some Guatemalans speak that way too here and I'm sure it's sometimes used in other countries as well. But the "rule" (by the book) use of the direct object pronoun, lo or la here is considered the most correct in Latin America. You can Google the term "leísmo" for more info. :) Or here's an interesting read in a forum where this was discussed: forum.wordreference.com/threads/tengo-gusto-de-conocerlo-conocerle-a-usted.3033301/
