Woah great job man! Just googled Charlie Hunter - are you telling me the guitar and bass on the original track are played at the same time on a single instrument by one person?!

What is that instrument? A hybrid of what?
Жыл бұрын
It is basically a hybrid of a bass and a guitar. It has 3 strings each which both have their own dedicated pickup. So the bass and guitar sound are totally separated. It was custom build by stevens custom guitars in Munich based on some of the instruments that Charlie hunter plays. Cheers!

Hey Lukas, amazing playing - I came across this because I've been thinking about buying a hybrid guitar, and the KZbin algorithm has seemingly picked up on that! Did you get this custom made? I ask cause I can't seem to find any info about this on the Stevens website. And did you pick it up in Texas yourself or did you get it shipped to Europe?
8 ай бұрын
Hey man, thank you! Yes the guitar is actually made as a total custom build by Stefan Zirnbauer at stevens custom guitars in munich, germany, there might be another builder with that same name :) If you are in the States you gotta check out hybrid guitars! Cheers
@PramodhYapa8 ай бұрын
@ Ah amazing, thanks so much for the info! I actually just moved to Innsbruck, so Munich is super close to me - I'll have to check them out. Your guitar sounds dope so I'll be sure to use this vidoe as reference if I get something made by them! 😊

this is great! that guitar sounds awesome - surprisingly convincing bass sound! what's the scale length on the lowest string?

Thank you! The lowest bass string has a scale length of 29“. I have It tuned to G.
@driversoflondon5611 Жыл бұрын
@ if id want to learn exactly what you played i this video, would i have to use other strings or tune it to a different tuning? or can i play that with regular strings and regular tuning? amazing play btw, lots of feel and what a groove!
Жыл бұрын
I think there‘s always a way to make that stuff work on regular guitar. you could try to play the main riff in standard tuning with a drop c bass string for example. The thicker you go with strings the more convincing the bass sound is going to be. A baritone guitar would be great as well. Or you can always try a regular scale guitar with baritone strings tuned to B standard for example, which is cool sound as well!

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or are those frets angled?
8 ай бұрын
No eye surgery needed! You’re right, they are fanned for longer scale length in the bass and shorter scale n the treble/guitar side.
@poerava8 ай бұрын
@ Oh wow. I’ll have to check it out. Is it easier to play?
8 ай бұрын
@@poerava it’s mainly for sonic reasons. Some voicings are quite satisfying to play with the fan frets, others don’t work as well, but to be honest the playability is no big deal, after all few minutes you don’t really feel the difference any more.
@poerava8 ай бұрын
