Well I'm a proud Lincolnshire Yellow Belly (this was a name gained by our counties soliders many 100's of years ago). The Lincolnshire Poacher is a very old song from our area and is used on the start up of the well known UK numbers station prior transmission. These stations always give me the creeps!!!

I'll do that. I wasn't aware of the Lincolnshire Poacher. What a name.

I picked this up today on an old Pye 15a (made in 1945). Short number sequences in between about 15 seconds of what sounded like digital noise. I recorded about ten minutes of it before it stopped.

The actual frequency is 5898 kHz. This station is called numbers station V02a. Search Enigma 2000 and Priyom.org.

I've heard a few varieties of number and phonetic alphabet stations but this one is common here in the States because it's said to originate from Cuba. As FirstToken said above the numbers part is known as the V02a station. I heard an English one a few mornings ago that was really different from this but it stopped transmitting before I could record anything. I'd be interested in seeing any you record on your side of the Atlantic Ian. 73's Paul

Hello Ian. I don't believe it has anything to do with that. If you search KZbin and Google you will find lots of videos and discussion about this. Apparently the consensus is Cuban spy code. I don't know what it is but it's interesting to find it on different frequencies and times of day. Some look for them but I don't. When I run across them it's by accident while band scanning. I'm uploading another right now recorded this morning. It has some odd digital sounding transmission at the end.

LOL yes Tony it is annoying and boring. I'm not sure if it's patience or stupidity that kept me videoing and listening to it. Probably a lot of the latter. 73's Paul
