Tengo una pregunta. My spanish trainer said that in Spanish V and B sound the same but ive been watching a lot of videos and i notice your B sounds very much like V and I can even see the small parting of the lips..

It's a great question. The B and V sound are the same in Spanish - that is right. However, the sound is not exactly the sound of an English B or V. The B/V sound is a fricative (air is partially blocked, so that air moving through the mouth generates audible friction), that is why you can see the small parting of the lips. Also, the sound varies with where the letters falls in a word and a sentence. It is closer to a bilabial like B ( where your lips come completely together) as an initial sound in a word "¡Bien!" and is much softer, with more of a fricative in a middle position like "saber". As a Spanish learner, your trainer is trying to get you to avoid a strong "v" sound - it's a good call!
