It's honestly incredible how much texturing and paint changes the life of a ship. I've learned so much from watching Spanj's builds and also Mr Spicy's Empyrion ship showcase. So often I find myself getting irritated with Empyrion for not giving me the block I want to finalize the shape I'm going for, but after watching these two pro's build for a while Ive learned that each time I can't find the right block, it's an opportunity for texture and paint to really breathe that fresh life into a vessel or base.

Great tutorial. Thanks. The paint and texture tools are IMHO.what makes Empyrion builds more interesting than any I have done in Space Engineers ..and can really help to "sell" a vehicle or base design. The variety and quality of work shown in game and on the workshop ( including a few of my own) showcase this for sure 🙂 Are the mud textures new in Alpha 8? Or have they been in for a while..its been ages since I played, and I would have been using the heck out of any thing that could add decent weathering if I had seen it🙂

you know what is weird? Hardened Steel Blocks painted/textured then using blank (first option in right-click) they turn one shade of gray darker. most other blocks seem to work better :P

I do love the attention to detail ... the paint smudges on the gun, most enemy AI don't work properly, but atleast the gun has smudge marks :)

learned something early, liked video for it. What I really want to know is how do you build those things in space, without freezing while you build it?

hit the ~ key to open the console and type gm, hit return. you are now in god mode and can fly around without taking damage.

you will need an EVA boost for your armor and plenty of O2 handy ;)

Page two second row down third from left. Paint that texture dark green and it looks like camo paint. I put that on my HV. Blends in really good in the forest biomes. It would be cool if they had camo values and angled armor values but that'd be steep for this game to do that.

Brother Spanj, can you make an updated version of this video featuring the new pallet system. It's confusing, I try to create a custom color aaannnd, my entire ship changes to the custom color I just created. I can't figure out what's going on.
