Little tip for survival building small craft. Place a block of wood down, drop your core on the block of wood, remove the wood. The core will now float 1 block off the ground allowing you to build under the core. When you enter the cockpit the first time the core will drop to the surface.

Thanks for the video. THE most important thing to come out of this for ME was that you mentioned the "Alt" key to adjust the camera. (I haven't tried it yet.) There are lots of key actions that are not mentioned and should be....If there are I don't know where on the web they are. Again thanks a lot and ALL the best from a new player lost in the woods.

thanks so much for the guide , had a lot of trial and error to expand on this design but I got there eventually..made a dandy hover with minigun on the nose..racing green..goes like the clappers with extra boosters on the back

For my first HV in a survival game I'll generally go for three hover motors (two front, one back) just becauses resources are vital I the early game. As Spanj says, you can do one or two but it makes manoeuvring harder and just gets annoying.

You should probably turn the center of mass debug on, and arrange your hover engines equally around it. I like them closer to the middle rather than on the corners, I find it makes it easier to aim the fixed guns up and down. I also don't have anything exposed underneath any more, terrible things happen if you hover directly above a rocket Zirax :)

For very early play, I made an HV out of mostly truss blocks. I can build that in the factory for under 80 ingots each. Really speeds up the exploration and gathering. Really easy on the fuel too. 5 biofuel will run for 40 minutes.

For my first hover vehicle in a survival game, I always build a SV instead. SVs have the same speed and are far more useful for everything. Plus the SV can reach moons and other planets.

Oh deary me, obviously you weren't around when everyone did the same thing in Space Engineers, with regards to the thrusters not doing damage to other blocks. Could i suggest that you start to 'pretend' that they do damage other blocks. Otherwise you'll find a lot, if not all of your creations will be useless when they do decide to implement this. I can't see them not bringing it in.....On another note, nice to see the basic videos getting refreshed. People seem to think that everyone knows the basics. Cheers mate :)

sounds like you placed a base starter or CV starter instead of a HV starter. HV and SV starters are considerably smaller

It's a decent tutorial, but dude, for the love of anything, at least make a basic script instead of doing everything straight off your head. You specifically referred to pointing back as opposed to forwards for about a minute total during the video. You also missed quite a few important parts like how many hover parts you viably need and whether or not they affect how heavy it can be or how high it hovers. You didn't mention in what way weight and size affects the build if at all. You also never mentioned F5 (drone) mode that's exceptionally useful for all building.
