Drafted in 69, I’ve always said it wasn’t good when they stopped the draft, all young men should be taught discipline, phones have really hurt our youth, we were told when to go to sleep, when to wake up, go to the bathroom, what to eat, when to speak, what to speak and on and on, but wouldn’t change a thing, ironic when we went to nam , there was a north and south and when we left just the north, 57,000 men gone, 300,000 crippled men and many more mentally scarred for life, so, so political⚔️⚔️

@David , This song and the rest of the Spanky & Our Game ,line up were still popular and played on the radio stations in Northeastern Alabama even after I graduated from high school in 1978. Good music has no age but sadly those that make and those that enjoy these wonderful songs and memories have expiration dates. When this song came out I was 9 years old and all people that made up my childhood neighborhood are all long gone now including my Grandmother and my sweet beautiful Mother as well. I remained friends with my childhood friends Dad until he was in his mid 90's he died I year after I had to move to another town. The last neighbor I paid a few visits to back in 2010 is now gone as well. But we still hold on to all the good memories from our youth and the memories of the friends and good neighbors we had back then.

When hanging out in the 60's at Rainbow beach, 79th street, southside of Chicago, the music epitomized the love mood as we dunked girls in the lake to come up for a kiss, and later a phone number in exchange. The Camelot of Chicago played out at the parks and beaches during these years of frivolity and" devil may care fun". All that fun ceased to exist after the sixties. The tide rose, the neighborhoods changed with the violence and the crime that came, lowself-esteem reigned. Welcome to Chicago. Let it rain.
