When the merch comes out in the future, I want a sim racing themed T shirt with “it’s expensive and I just look like a bell end, sitting at home in my shorts and T shirt with me fireproof gloves on, might as well put a helmet on as well” on it 🤣

As you said Karl, one needs gloves to protect the suede/Alcantara on the wheel. I have found that OMP rally gloves, which are wrist length, with real suede on the palms (and cost about the same as the Hypergrip gloves when on sale on Amazon) are much, much better. They are not padded and still allow very good feedback even on my old wheel. I have used these for as long as I can remember and the suede on my 12 year-old Fanatec CSR wheel is still almost as good as new. Thanks for the another great video!

I’m glad you enjoyed creating video review of gloves, but I hoped for DD1 review :). Really good review what helps out many people. That small comment ‘I’m a mechanic or I own a garage’ gives lot of thumbs up. You have driven many cars and in sim racing know what you’re talking about, especially doing DD1 review.

Another great review. I use the sparco mecca's for work as i handling alot of packing - they are great. I originally got them for sim racing. I now use Alpinestars Dune gloves which can be had for as little as £14.99. I recommend you review these they are really most excellent.

Im going through a nightmare with Sparco gloves. I bought karting gloves that were advertised by Irish motorsport shop as suitable for sim racing. Within 2 months they developed holes on my shifting fingers. I went back to the shop and complained and shops feedback was that they won't take them back because I used them as much as kart driver would in a year and that they are not designed for paddle shifting... They offered me substantial discount however...so I spent more money and bought Sparco Land gloves with reinforced finger tips. They arrived last Friday...I found a hole in them on the index finger. Looked like the seam was not done well enough. I am waiting for replacement. This is most likely my last purchase from Sparco... If you are in the market for gloves that can take some beating and you are on the budget, I recommend alpinestars motocross gloves.I dont remember the name...they are about 20 quid. They have no padding but the palm is made of fake suede I have them for over a year now and apart from silicone grips falling off, they have no signs of use the same way those sparcos developed within 2 months time. Breathable, light, disappear on your hand.

You can buy decent MTB-gloves for under 15 bucks and gloves needs to be replaced anyway after a year maximum in my case. Better have a 2nd pair because you want to wash the gloves every few weeks since they start smelling. After wearing out three suede-wheels with and without gloves in no time I can tell, the difference isn't that huge and I'm back using fingerless bicycle-gloves because the originally suede leather is smooth anyway. If you want to protect the suede, you need to buy a suede-brush or better full suede-maintenance-set and probably using it once a week or so. I bought mine after it was too late for that and since you have to care about the suede anyway, you could also wash out the 'grease' with it. I'm still using gloves because I would get hard skin without and they provide better grip and some protection against jolts. Now being able to type without taking off the gloves is really a big pro.

just bought the sparco mech3 gloves and have done 30mins of FM7. Nice feeling but wouldn't say its a day and night experience though on the other hand doesn't make you want to go back. Will be testing these on my car on a track day and karting. Interestingly the shop owner suggested these over the OMP KS4 which are kart gloves...

I have tried a few pairs of racing and cycling gloves. I find difficulty pressing buttons and using D pad. I have ended up with a normal pair of leather fingerless car driving gloves, from Amazon. Nice and thin, so not too detrimental to force feedback and protect the rim. So far so good.

I’m thinking of just using some batting gloves as they are cheap and when they wear out, I just get more. Of course at present I’m only using my g29 and don’t use gloves but eventually want to upgrade and get the rally wheel and fanatec of some sort.... probably as a 50th birthday in a couple years. I’m having a good time with the g29 for now and playing the hell out of wrc 9 and dirt rally 2 as well as Assetto Corsa.

I've had the Hypergrip gloves for about a month and honestly I didn't have any wear whatsoever, maybe it depends a bit on the game and the steering wheel you play with (I'm on ACC with a Fanatec Formula V2). I guess if you use them for rallying whene you have to do a lot more corrections and sliding of the steering wheel with your fingers that might cause problems, but if you're doing formula racing or something where your hands do not move significantly on the wheel I feel like your fingertips would barely have any contact at all, and therefore no wearing. One thing I find useful about these gloves is that the touch finctionality of a touchscreen or touchpad doesn't actually require you to pop your finger out (in fact, I frankly don't get why they added that feature to start with) which is actually pretty handy for me because when I'm using my rig I use a wireless keyboard with touchpad to navigate around while I'm not driving, I'm wondering if the Mecha Gloves can do the same, if so, I guess I'd just get those when it's time to replace the Hypergrip, because I was conflicted between the two models when I got them and this is pretty much the only reason why I ultimately picked the Hypergrip. Also, yeah, the fact that the finger doesn't properly tuck in under the fingercap is incredibly annoying, but I think it's more a matter of me being a bit OCD about this kind of stuff, because when I'm racing I actually don't feel any weird bumps or anything feeling weird right there, but that's probably also because mine don't end up being so much "untucked", for some reason :D
@KarlGosling

That will definitely make a huge difference for sure, Formula steering input is very smooth and minimal compared to rally.

Nice video. How do they grip on a non-suede wheel like a t300 or g29? Screwfix selling 'site' gloves (KF320) for £1.99. very thin and stretchy with a thin rubber palm. Rubber is a little stiff at first, but loosen up after about a week. They are my go-to gloves now, in fact, I've bought another 2 pairs.

Once again, Sparco not really understanding sim racing. I use full on Sparco racing gloves from the Martini Collection. The only reason I went with them was the look. They’re the only gloves in Sparcos line up that aren’t ridiculously flashy with ugly graphics and colors. Most race gloves I see on the market look “cheesy and gamery” Even the real race gloves. I also use the Mec gloves and they work great too.

I have exactly the same Meca 3 Sparco black gloves for few months now. They got worned out on index finger due to velcro, when you are thaking them off, "unvelcroing" them, you brush upper side of your index finger and it gets worn out after some time. Also this velcro piece tends to stick to material used to upper side of the palm (actually, any part made of that not-leather material) which after some time starts to wear out. So, also looks like not very long lasting solution, certainly not long good-looking :(

Had a pair of these. Those finger tip things are just horrible. Especially since you can use smart phones with almost all karting gloves very well. Even worse is the quality. Mine and many others broke apart at the velcro. The velcro and the rubber are just put together with some sort of glue which gives up after 2-3 weeks. Sparco then told me to send them back and pay for the shipping, they will pay back the shipping costs after they received the faulty gloves. After that they just paid back the amount of the gloves. Even after many e-mails they just talked around it and didn't give me back the shipping cost which was around 15 €. I was lucky I didn't pay like 30-40 for the insured shipping with tracking number. I just got scammed by Sparco. I'd like to never buy from them again but unfortunately I tried and loooove their Rush gloves. They are one of their cheapest gloves and very high quality. Plus there is no dumb velcro or anything which can fall apart like that. So I can really recommend them. Still looking like new after a few months of using and multiple hand washes.
