This is for a variety of purposes: so that they can claim what you just did- that an earned dislike because of their abuse is the subjective view of only one of their kids has because of the kid's issues, and not the parent's behavior, but the other siblings like them fine- and so they can set siblings against each other with jealousy and resentment over being treated better than the other, and compete for the parent's approval. Simple divide and conquer. A parent who abuses one of their children is an abusive parent no matter how they treat their others, and it is impossible for abuse to be contained like that in a family environment. It always spills over and poisons everything. Selective treatment like that also isolates the victims, as their would-be allies in their siblings don't have the same experience of the parent, and so are less likely to understand and are more vulnerable to gaslighting from the parent who will attempt to turn them against their sibling.

In our previous building, a stray dog used to live ...just running lose . Nobody mided , he was super well behaved, well fed ( by everyone in the building) and never pooped or peed in . I wonder what Sheldon would have done .

Yeah, exactly. years ago there was a stray cat that showed up at our neighborhood and now one of our neighbors adopted her. She still visits at different houses in my neighborhood. She used to come to my house but she scared my dog.
