I watched dungeons and dragons on blu ray. Audio wasn’t good. Would 4K be better for sound?? Is there a difference between blu ray and 4K for audio. I recommend watching it in standard blu ray to see the difference

Yes please however drop Black Adam off every list you can think of it's among the worst films of the year so far Indy 5 may take that honor but Black Adam/The Flash it's just not Warner Brothers year.

My Evil Dead Rise comes today or tomorrow. Really enjoyed the movie in the theater. Made me buy the entire set of movies, as I don’t recall them all. Great list.

I noticed from all the videos of top ten 4ks sor far that two studios that are always on the top ten, warner bros and Sony. I think transfers wise there are the best now.

I agree that Black Adam is the best looking transfer in 2023. I was surprised at how vivid the 4K blu ray transfer is over digital. I did have to bump up the sound but when I did the audio was rich and bombastic.

For me, Avatar: Way of Water is light years ahead of any 4K digital picture on disc I’ve ever seen. The only other disc I’ve seen that at astounds me is Maverick. There is obviously amazing discs out there over the last 5 years, especially remasters like Blade Runner, Jaws, Unforgiven etc… and Nolan films with IMAX are demo worthy. Mission Impossible Fallout was a stunning disc too. But Avatar - WOW. It was like looking through a window. I think for the majority of discs it falls into 2 categories - shot on digital or shot on film (prefer the latter). Majority of 4K shot digital presentations are only really let down by the HDR/Dolby Vision implementation/director’s vision of lighting. Most I’d expect to score high. With shot on film, there is just a cinematic purity that can’t be beaten. Still - Avatar blew my mind - it was that good in my opinion.

Agreed,except for D&D and Black Adam, audio wise. Their spatial sound effect is good, but the LFE, dialogue etc , I just felt soft, and I really needed to raise the master volume up to enjoy it.

I have had a projector for many years. I thought there were to many compromises now (lack of vrr,hdr,140hz etc.,etc.) so I baught a 98 inch tv. Of course you won’t be getting 3d…

JW4 is very crisp in video, but I need to crank up the audio a lot to get similar result as JW2. So JW2 has the best audio, JW3 and JW4 are second, JW1 is the third.

Not really into the new movies needing to be reviewed. How they are shot nowadays almost always translates well to home viewing. I find the older movies being transferred to 4k to be a far more interesting and hit or miss as to how good they turn out making it a review that matters. I don’t care how good Black Adam or 65 look/sound. Those movies are trash and would never be added to my collection.

I didn’t get all the hype with D&D I bought it on Kaleidescape due to “Cineramax” recommendation and wasn’t impressed at all. Even running it with a Trinnov Alt16. It was OK.
