Unfortunately many Diy and even some KZbin mechanics are as thick as two short planks.. As an electrical/mechanical tradesman I find it a real pleasure to watch a true professional at work.

Never lubed a sparkplug in my life never had an issue. Never thought about the coil packs failing due to excessive plug gap but it makes perfect sense. I always learn something from ur stuff Dave many thanks👍

cheers John. i try to cram as much info as i can into the videos. This isn't really a 'how to' on changing spark plugs in a corsa at all

Nice one Dave, same applies to brake pads as you say , if you check most manufacturers they state no anti-seize, hate it when you see copper grease slobbered over brake pads. my pet hate is this stuff.

Well said Dave, + grease on plug threads turn to a carbon mess, grease slapped on everything is an old wives tale some things yes bush bolts etc.

nice video. always but always, use torque tool to torque the plug. if you overtorque, the plug won't have the life it sould have.i torque by hand (many years ago),spark plugs due to service, and after 2 months they failed. we took them out and sent them to a center(for warranty), they measure the thickness of the washer,and they say it was torque to 10kgm(not NM!!!),and of course, no warranty 😪😪😪 Lesson learned.......

Hi, thanks for the great video. One quick question: Did you disconnected the Battery before changing the spark plugs? Thanks!

If I find the old plugs are tight with carbon on the way out I use a plug chaser to clean the threads before installing new plugs. The ohv ford engine like those in the early fiesta and ka would easy snap off. Even I learned out to remove the broken remains. Maybe you should make a video of removing a broken plug dave?
@davesterl3 жыл бұрын
Aye, i haven't had a plug snap in manys a year altho i dont do a lot of old scrappers these days

Dave, quick question… do you reduce the torque spec if you put the anti seize grease? (In my case like for example on glow plugs) on a Jetta mk4 the spec is 11nm, if I put anti seize, do I still torque to 11 or should I reduce?
@davesterl3 жыл бұрын
Definately reduces the torque spec

Hi, My manual says 25 Nm but the bosch box says 28Nm, which torque should I go with? Mines a zafira b, same plugs, Thanks

Hi Dave. Another great video. Question.Would you use anti seize on a heater plug on a diesel??
@davesterl3 жыл бұрын
if you apply the same reasons not to use on spark plugs. don't want to over torque
@Conservator.3 жыл бұрын
Any kind of grease or oil on spark plugs will probably carbonise because of the heat and might have the opposite effect. Just my thoughts.
@davesterl3 жыл бұрын
Yes Conservator, agree on that
@stephenglasgow7622 жыл бұрын
How many miles on those standard bosch plugs? Thx

That copper grease should be banned from all workshops I detest the stuff only thing I use on threads is a few drops of oil from the oil can or thread locker if needed.
@davesterl3 жыл бұрын
Yeah Kevin, ok for steel on steel bolt shanks but that's about it
