Thanks KZbin algorithm, I was wondering what the best sparkplug to use in my DB9 was. Off to ring the garage and have them install these while they're overhauling the gearbox.

As always, excellent and irreplaceable knowledge. One of the many beauties of your dissemination of knowledge, is that you always discuss/tell, the 'why's' of what you suggest. I know from my experience in training people in the field in which I spent most of my life, is that the 'why' is immensely important in understanding the reasoning behind the advice. You are VERY valuable. Thank you once again.

Thanks for recognizing that. I can't stand videos that just jump to conclusions without the reference its based upon. I want to know the knowledge is spot on before I try it on my car. Thanks for watching!

Amazing video. The exact information I was looking for. Thanks for the work you do for all of us! Hopefully you’ll have a video about the ignition coils used for DB9/DBS V12.

Very informative. I’m motivated to find the plugs for my V8V N430. PS, i did. the same for my 2005 AMG V8 which needs 16 plugs. Mercedes Price for the plugs in 2012 was $520, I bought NGK plugs for about half of that.

I’ll be honest I’m not sure why I’m here but this was definitely an interesting video. I won’t ever need to know what ive just learnt but still

The NGK ITR6F13 is what is called for in the Ford Mondeo with V6 Duratec engine, surprised? Well you shouldn't be. Another great video Steve just checked eBay and they have a 6 piece pack for £43.70.
@Aston19362 жыл бұрын
Not surprised. But, these are just spark plugs. I could probably fit the one from my lawn mower and it would sorta work. Just a word of caution, keep an eye our for fake NGK plugs being sold. I guess there are some cheap Chinese knock offs out there with NGK logos, etc. but the actual plugs are just cheap crap. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the incredibly helpful research and presentation! In this video, you mention the colder plugs if we're going to "chip your car to increase performance". Got any blogs or videos on your site to elaborate?
@Aston1936 Жыл бұрын
If you use an aftermarket ECU remap (like one from Velocity AP) they can advance the timing substantically for more power. If you have 'colder' plugs installed, they can push the tune a little farther knowing the plug tip will be cooler and not cause pre-ignition (ping).

You have very impressive site just in hunt for Aston Martin czars found a 2008 DB9 convertable with 50,000 miles, do you have any experience with convertibles I assume will have to change get all the fluids,also 6 speed automatic, I would prefer prefer coup any thoughts on what I should do after buy,Christopher Ottawa Canada

I believe that going with too cold spark plugs has nothing to do with "non optimal spark ignition point", but a carbon build up. Too cold and carbon can build up on the spark, too hot and pre ignition can occur.

I am also wondering if they went for a colder plug for there forced induction version of there motors? Which you definitely don't want pre ignition on those engines

So I have a 2010 DBS. If you had the choice would you apply the iridium technology to my car?
@Questchaun2 жыл бұрын
It's a sparkplug send if bruh
@Aston19362 жыл бұрын
Yes, I personally would run the SITR7xxxx plug I reference in the video. The Iridium should be a better overall plug, 17 year newer tech.

Looking these up on NGK now, I am getting many more options for my 2005, all showing a length of 11 mm not 13? is that right?
@Aston1936 Жыл бұрын
The NGK sites can steer you wrong. They have conflicting information depending on which countries NGK site you access. I'll just refer to the video - what I published in it I was 100% sure at the time (and still am as my car is running those plugs). I don't remember all the research at this point. If there is a link to the companion blog article that may have more detail as well. Thanks for watching.

Aston Martin does not make spark plugs. Neither does Porsche or most other OEMS either. Now, let's talk about filters, oil, and brake pads.

I share the same curiousity on coil pack alternatives and what yr process is for sluething a similar FoMoCo part .... for .my DB7. Now the 4th set. Every 15k miles it seems.
@Aston19362 жыл бұрын
Its frustrating isn't it that the issue appears so frequently. VW Golf owners would never accept an issue like this. Plugs and Coils 3 times in 50K miles. Thanks for sharing your experiences too.
