I followed the instructions and got the job done but now I am getting p2195 and p2197 O2 sensor codes and the SUV starts choking at idle or parked. The tubes were put on securely and I changed the air filter. Any videos on what could be causing this?
@corybrown55834 жыл бұрын
you should check your gaskets on the intake manifold. Most likely a vacuum leak. Honestly if you connected everything back up correctly that's the only thing it could be.

These set of instructions seem so laid back and straight forward. A lot of the other channels seem to struggle with this particular service. Your efforts are appreciated and leave nothing to be questioned. Great job.

Once again, thanks Manic. You don't know how many times I thought I finished a vid, but when I look at it for the last time before uploading it, I'll say, "Damn, I forgot to include that!" This is, by far, the best video on how to change spark plugs on a Ford escape!! I have a 2001 and believe that I can do this job the same way you did!! Back in the old days like in the 70s and 80s, we didn't have to go through all this crap to change spark plugs!! 😠 Life and cars were simple back then and much easier to work on!! Thank you buddy for showing me how to do this. If I ever meet you, I'm going to give you a case of MGD (Miller Genuine Draft)!! 😁👍
@GreaseMonkeyFever5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Moe. Really, the only tricky part is the disconnections/reconnections around the throttle body. The rest is pretty easy. Just take your time! Again, thanks for watching!
@robbjr7879 Жыл бұрын
At least on the 2007 ford escape you can get away with leaving the throttle cables and vent tube. Instead of taking the entire intake off you instead shove it to the side. Though it would be much easier to access the spark plugs and ignition coils with the plenum entirely removed. Everything on my escape is so brittle and dry rotted though that I try to unplug as little as I can get away with.

Thank you so much for this. I found a similar video earlier that i followed, and wondered why my car ran badly when i was done. The other video didnt mention replacing the gaskets at all. It was running lean on both sides. One EGR gasket and 6 manifold gaskets, ive re-done the whole process today and my car has never sounded better.

Thank you for all your videos! Incredible detail I appreciate it. I bought a used 2002 Ford Escape with 145,000. It now has 268,000. I have a firewall coil pack that's bad. I am replacing all the plugs/coil packs plenum gaskets, PVC EGR and vacuum lines. Maybe the injectors also if the price is right. I learned about pressurized fuel lines, fuel coupling tools, the wire harness under the motor mount and other little details of this job because of you taking the time to film/edit. Thank you for that! I hope God blesses you and your family! Take care my friend

Nice specialty tool at 13:27.... I take it the Grease Monkey made that one in the shop with a pair of needle nose and a torch and piece of 1/2 inch rebar...... very impressive. Where does one get a pair of Kevlar gloves to protect knuckles for this job? Makes me look back fondly at the simplicity of a Chevy small block. Very, very helpful though. Thank you Grease Monkey.. Will head to my local U-Pick to practice on one before I start on my wife's car.

@stephenino2 жыл бұрын
My only comment is you could have had all the tools needed shown on a table labeling them before you started the job. So when following your instructions you’re not finding out something new that you should have already had instead of stopping to go out and getting the missing item or fluid or solution that you’re using. No surprises when it all shown ahead of time.

Thank God for this video!!! This has got to be the worst design of any engine I have come across (I have a Mazda Tribute which is basically the same). Going through this nightmare just to remove the d..n spark plugs is complete insanity! Seems like "they", (whoever they are) did this on purpose so that every day people could not take care of this simple repair on their own. Most shops want $350.00 to $600. just to replace the plugs. YIKES!!! It's a good thing this car was given to me for free so I don't feel to bad putting the time or money in it. I would never, ever buy a vehicle like this, where the basic maintenance of spark plug removal...was this difficult to achieve. Again thanks for the great video... I have been working on cars for over forty years and I would never would have been able to figure this spark plug changing nonsense out without your help. Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.
@GreaseMonkeyFever Жыл бұрын
Hate to say it, Rick, but a lot of newer cars with 6 or 8 cylinders...and front wheel drive...tuck the back spark plugs under the plenum. 4-cylinder cars are usually pretty easy when it comes to spark plugs. But, I'm with you...they do these type of things so that the average DIY mechanic won't want to do it, even if they have the tools. By the way, wait 'til you have to replace the alternator! On the 3.0, the axle has to come out so that the alternator can come through the bottom (you can also unbolt a motor mount and shift the engine slightly to get it out...but I think the axle removal is easier). Anyway, Rick, glad the vid helped...and thanks for watching!

I performed this on a friends 2006. I have no automotive training, per se. I was able to do this and change the computer in around 30-45 minutes. The key is having the correct tools beforehand. I originally attempted it without the correct tools and had to stop near the end. Once I came back with the correct tools days later, it was easy. I suggest that everyone buy good tools, like automatic wrenches, screwdrivers, etc, deep sockets and the like. Sure it’s an investment but then you never have to hire someone for the work ever again.

Thank you for the great video. It gave me the courage to do this repair myself. I watched the video and pre-ordered all the parts and sealants. Then brought my laptop into the garage. Followed your video step by step and it all went extremely well. Also changed all the ignition coils and everything else I could find that was old. You are a hero to all of us who are tired of bringing our older cars to mechanics who charge monstrous amounts of money, specifically with the parts mark up
@vinylrules275 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! These instructions were amazing and were the only reason I was able to do this myself. To those about to go through this themselves, it’s not bad at all as long as you follow along. There’s a few tight spots for getting to the bolts in the back, but this should save you some money. For me it only cost about $60 for parts and tools that I didn’t have including new vice grips for a bolt that broke off while tightening.
