Damn, I remember being 16 and getting this CD from Columbia House without hearing any of the songs first. I definitely liked the album as a whole, but I especially remember listening to this song, Tears on Fresh Fruit, and Spirit Ditch (I gravitated more surreal, lo'fi, and distortion/fuzz filled songs back then) on repeat constantly. I honestly thought back then that he had a bright future ahead of him and that he was going to make an impact somehow (little did I realize it would be left posthumously). I remember hearing about Linkous' suicide and it hit me pretty hard, not only as a tragedy as such any suicide is, but as someone who dealt with (and still deals with) depression and anxiety issues, it's always a bit haunting when someone that fights such inner battles ends up succombing to the demons.

I cannot believe this brilliant track only has 935 likes after 10 years. I miss Mark incredibly like so many of us do. I used to talk to his mum via email.

Mark was doing his own thing... Sparklehorse had a sound all their own and it was very special. I wish he was still with us. Music isn't as sweet without him.

I never cry, but I did when the news came out about his early demise. Such a talent. Met him for 10 seconds at a book signing with Lynch

MTV "120 Minutes" hosted by Matt Pinfield is where I first heard this wonderful song.
@edhelvey61193 жыл бұрын
'120 Minutes' was about the only two hours of the week worth tuning in to MTV - except when they aired reruns of 'The Monkees' in 1986.

Same. Sparklehorse had a lot of hype when this was released. I used to record 120 minutes every weekend on my VCR, and I watched this video over and over. It was unique even for 1996, which was a time of unique alternative music. I was only 16, but I thought Sparklehorse was going to be much bigger. I still listen to this semi-regularly. Mark's music was ahead of his time.

He would come into my club and request songs. Sometimes his own. He was just a regular. We had lots of people like that come through in early 1986.

No. That is not Teresa. I forget her name. Mark told me about a female musician he was working with at the time. I'm guessing that she was the person he was referring to.
