I still don't know who's more insane. Russell because of his weird hyperactivity or Ron because of his lyrics.

Lyrics? INSANE lyrics are to be found in 'Roger' and 'Saccharine and the war'. Ironical with a twist: 'Pineapple' and fun and a little... something, I don't know what 😂: 'Gone with the wind'. By Russell. So... I don't think one is more of anything than the other. It's just expressed differently 🤣

Notice Ron’s No. 1 in Heaven hairdo starting to come in here.

Not only was Ron's music way ahead of their time but he was rocking the 80's American Psycho short slicked back hair and suit cooperate look while everyone had long hair in the early 70's...

For some reason, this makes me wish that Kate Bush and Sparks had collaborated together for an album or even a song or 2.

That’s a shame that the band didn’t release a new LP version of this album, like they did with the Island records box set because is a hard to find LP. I think the CD release from the band own record company is mastered from a LP and not the original master tapes. Anyway, it’s not the best album Sparks release but it contain some great songs like Occupation, Forever young, Goofing off. I think the 1977-78 years was rough period for a majority of bands because of the emergence of punk, new wave and disco among other styles. Glam rock, prog rock wasn’t as popular and some bands had to make some radical changes in their sound. Some of them manage that change better than the other and Sparks was one of them. Their next album will be a strong proof that Sparks was able to reinvent itself and reach a new audience without loosing their creativity and sacrifice their unique approach. I’m a progressive music lover, especially the 1970-76 period with bands like Genesis, Gentle Giant and many more, but I’m not shy to say that I love Sparks!!! Their 1974-77 period for me is their best but I do enjoy some of their disco, new wave records from the end of the 70’s and up to their more recent album.

The reason is simple: rights issue between Columbia and Sparks. Sparks was able to re-release a CD version in 2007 on their Lill Beethoven label, probably after a great legal battle.

I do! (kind of...) It helped when I realized that they are in alphabetical order... Actors, Bombers, Cocaine Druggists (not sure about that one), Donut Makers, Elephant Trainers. Greyhound Drivers, Hotel Keepers, Hit Men, Knights & Dukes of Earle. Lady Killers, Maids & Nuns, Orson Welles' Promo Men, Quiz Show Hosts and Royal Family, Sailors, Trollops, Undertakers. Werewolves, Witches, X-Rated Actors, Yes Men, Yes Men, Zoo Keepers!

Congratulations! This was driving me up the wall. I hadn't spotted that they were in alphabetical order (sort of...I guess they just liked the sound of "Dukes of Earl"!). Think it might be "Cut Rate Druggists" if only because it sounds right and seems to be a thing in the US (based on 90 seconds on Google). And think Z might be "Zorro", having played around / amplified with the digital track.

There's this Occupation remix from the master tapes here and you can hear what Russell's singing at the end much clearer: You got most of them right, impressive! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXfCi4B4m96Aeqs
