It’s certainly not cheap, but I invested and don’t regret it. Helps with timing, and with timing comes distance. Took it to the range and spent more time letting other golfers try it than hitting balls.

Excellent video Phil on where the release should occur in the golf swing! If one relaxes the grip and tension in the wrists and forearms, the club will do most of the work for them! It's surprising how much technology is built into these modern golf clubs today! Well Done Sir!

Great video Phil and thanks for sharing. One question, I have been working on this swing with my driver trying to increase distance. Unfortunately, I seem to hit most of my drives off the heel of club and can't seem to break the 200-yard mark. Any helpful tips to fix this flaw? Thank you, sir!

This is very general and may not be the answer but worth a try…. The flatter the plane the more prone to hitting from the heel and the more upright the more you tend to get toe end hits.

Hello, I am a Dutch golfer and I have an average clubheadspeed of 80 miles per hour. I have the Hole in One and after a lot of exercises I now have an average speed of 82 /m.hour. I can' t imagine that I can reach another 20 miles as you say in the video... I think you own basic clubheadspeed is around 100 m/ hour. Then you could also add another 20 miles per hour with the Hole in One ?

No you are right most golfers can’t get an extra 20mph but 10mph might be achievable if you follow what was suggested in terms of relaxing and swinging, removing force or tension. Good luck it sounds like you are already making progress (82mph is quite respectable) but with regular practice I wouldn’t be surprised to see you achieve 90mph. 👍

I have used another tip where you use a empty toilet paper roll, let it slide towards the grip on the back swing and then release. The pace has to be just right for the roll to to slide towards the head at contact.

No, Philip still uses ‘stiff’ but in future when speeds drop below 90 mph that will definitely be something to consider. Hopefully, at least a decade away!!

I take the point it costs less than a new driver but it’s still an expensive item. An early video featuring Brian suggested turning a normal club on end to hold by the head, swinging and listen for the whoosh at the same point the magnets would click. Obviously not as good but a valid alternative if you can’t afford it?

You are right if finances don’t allow then that is a decent alternative. However, we still have one that Brian bought over 50 years ago!! they are not a 5 minute gimmick so costed over several years they can be estimated at below £1 a week.

Can’t understand why I am not achieving higher speeds or distance, tried a hole in one and within ten minutes I could click at Maximum and yet my true swing speed is less than 90mph and total distance about 200 yards. What should people in my boat be working on?

Sounds as though you may be getting a little decoration around impact when hitting for real. I’d suggest reducing the speed on the device to 2/3 of your max and make sure the click is after impact not before. This will only occur when you have a nice relaxed start to your forward swing and the acceleration happens later on. Another factor though, is that even at just shy of 90mph you should be achieving more than 200 yards. This could be happening for several reasons but the most obvious are that your driver is not best fitted to you especially in terms of loft or you are not achieving a square hit with the path being in to in (fundamentally straight) and the club face square. If either or both of these factors is compromised you lose substantial amounts of power. Solutions - go for a club fitting with a local club fitter of good reputation. If that doesn’t work join the ES club, film your swing and post it on the club, coaches and experienced players will help you there. Good luck.

I just watched your video on your take of the turn. I have likely watched 1000 videos from various teachers and have NEVER commented on a single one of them. NEVER! But here goes for the first time. You are so full of it. You are promoting "sliding" or "swaying" in the golf swing, and any of us reasonably credible instructors know that sliding is the #1 killer of the golf swing. You are also not just promoting a slight shift of weight but a enormous shift. Shame on you for putting out this snake oil. If you want us seniors to turn that hip then tell them about dropping their trail foot behind. A much safer cheat than your nonsense. I can easily do your dumbass move and make contact, but the ball ain't going anywhere because if I try to put some speed in, the ball goes wonky for sure. Yeah, I know that you are going to just think that I'm some kind of competitor or nut job know-it-all. I am clearly more sensible in my imparting of advice than to do something like you are with this swaying crap. We have been told for decades that when we get older we lose our flexibility and that is the reason we can't do what the flat-bellies can do. Well that is also NOT TRUE. What we lose when we get old is our BALANCE. Twenty-somethings have remarkable balance that allows them to turn like a rubberband. I had remarkable balance when I was younger and I don't have it now. Why do you think that a company like LifeAlert sells so many of their devices? It's because we fall down much easier as we get older. I would bet you that LifeAlert hasn't sold a single button to anyone the age of 30 or less. So start giving viewers who think they are going to learn something impactful from you the real deal instead of this silliness
