Excellent, I started with the 12 edition, life was much more simpler then, mind you I actually lived in a house with NO electricity when I was a lad. You “lads” are definitely so helpful to both young and old, thank you all so much

24:08 Interesting - would that apply to the outer sheath of a coax delivered broadband service from a cable TV type telecoms operator?

Great video guy’s 👍❤️ Point on RCD testing You mentioned lewden , Gaz at eFixx did a video were he interviewed the technical manager from lewden and the technical training manager from the ECA and the both said that we only need to test RCDs on the AC setting on our MFTs but if we want to carry out all the tests then we can but we don’t have to, this was a couple of months ago well before amendment 2. Fantastic video guy’s good clear and easy to understand , 👍👍👍❤️

slightly interesting thank you. Am I understanding correctly that in domestics, any socket circuits now worked on (minor works)will require SPD's . how about cookers and showers? In HMOs do we have to fit AFDD's on socket circuits if we work on them plus fit an SPD. I may have to re watch this one and not at 1am

Thanks Fellors very informative and definitely making me think. One thing of note you were suggesting C2s on EICRs for lack of type A RCD protection . This will require an amendment to the 'Electrical Safety First - Best practice Guide no 4 as all Private Rented Sector Inspectors in NICEIC/ELECSA(not sure about NAPIT) as part of their registration have signed up to following the guidance of this particular document when carrying out these EICRs. Where RCDs are concerned on a TN system a C2 is only warranted for the absence of 30mA RCD protection on an outside socket or in a bathroom where RCD is missing and there is no supplementary bonding to metallic pipework or class 1 fittings. So any flat not on the ground floor with class 2 fittings only in a bathroom and plastic pipework does not require any protection by RCD and will still get a Satisfactory as it does not require an RCD for fault protection. Forgive me if I am wrong but the countries listed where type ACs are banned all require RCD protection for Fault protection as well as Additional protection . So I would say a C3 on a TN system and a C2 on a TT system. It will be interesting to see what the Electrical Safety council make of this.

regulation 411.4.2 earth electrode, if installing an EV charger on a PME network even with PEN protection then does this mean we now have to install an earth electrode or does an EV installation fall under the category (outbuilding). Also what if we get a dedicated PME supply into a feeder pillar from the DNO for on street charging do we have to install this earth electrode again even if there is PEN fault protection
@dsbelectricaldavidbetterid84482 жыл бұрын
I would say the rest of the electrical installation will require the electrode in parallel with met connection as the o pen device is covering just the ev part?

Thanks guys for your tremendous efforts in producing these vidios. Outstanding effort in educating the masses. As is always the case...it's alright that the guys and girls in the trade are aware of this.....BUT....what are the powers that be doing to educate the general public....for me...that is where the massive gap is. Price a job ...explain the regs.....and a blank expression or a sharp intake of breath, usually follows....when you give them the price to be reg compliant. Someone, somewhere, needs to educate the general public.

You're expected to plan installation work to that effect, where possible. Install connections, then test before lamping. You can always test a circuit or a room at a time as you install and just add the parallels. Existing systems will be live to earth as per usual. Or install an IMD.
@mrmr-uk1gh2 жыл бұрын
@@SparkyNinja I'm guessing IMD could be an insulation monitoring device?......Thanks for your reply..My problem is that I have nothing to do with the actual installs,only the testing ....I probably could pay for a mewp at £300 a day plus delivery and collection fees(I dont do many domestic ) to unplug the downlights if theyre on plugs and risk damaging the freshly touched in painters caulk where the installation spark had made the hole a little big.....but quite often the likes of fluorescents are hard wired in,security lights on the outside of buildings 40 meters up in the air so a bigger outdoor cherry picker needed for that one.......Trying to get the installation company to coordinate when they have enough stuff ready for testing before final fit is very difficult if not impossible ..it just wouldn't pay..............................When I was doing installation work I would do as you have suggested...

With reference to the comment about inverters...There are many UPS systems out there with which the earth loop will be impossible to test....Often the system has no reference to earth.....when going through the ups .batteries.I have questioned this and ..the disconection time I have been led to believe by Schneider,Vertiv,Socomec et al..is handled by the electronics within the inverter itself...Please advise otherwise.
