I would love to see in the future to see that the DNO or regulations to include a main isolation switch on the entire main isolation as well as the DNO main fuse of being 100 Amps.

Well said i always thought a switch fuse combination like we see in city buildings another 100 quid in every new installation isnt gona cripple the shareholders and board members is it ?.

More info for Paul - that cut out with terminal screws "plug" @2:11:30 is made by Lucy, and it's still manufactured and used today, one of the best cut outs out there :D

Thanks so much for this info. I went to an EICR today and the incomer had pitch leaking a 40a meter and an old clamp, all things that if I’m totally honest with you wouldn’t of really noticed before. Also used the handy tip of calling the DNO on 105!! So happy I watched this and am learning all the time, love you channel!!!

Transparent cut-out fuse holder might be helpful.

Its hard to make a glass reinforced poly and you're not gona see anything apart from the rating which tbh we guess at by the di tail size assume 80......integrated a switch ...should have been done decades ago

@1:04:30 Can that be called an isolator as it doesn't break the neutral?

Great video. Can I comment on one of the advantages of meter boxed located on external wall? The thief also had 24/7 access. When on holiday they remove the main fuse and then return a week later to break in when the alarm battery is flat and are then not disturbed by the alarm going off. Not sure how one would protect against this. Solar powered alarm?

You have to be careful where an earthing conductor goes into a cut-out is assumed to be TN-C-S (PME) as a few years ago I was fortunate to go into a Weston Power stores and the cutouts for TN-S and TN-C-S looked the same one had a link for the neutral and earth blocks inside the other did not both would have the consumers earthing conductor going in.

Do western power have to supply a earth if they have changed to pme on a daisy chain supply to next door

Fun fact the DNO in charge of Liverpool are aware when asked that the whole of the system is phase reversed, grey black brown, as apposed to, brown black grey, for the rest of the country. It was done years ago and would cost to much and would cause to many problems to change

There is also a big installation in Borehamwood where the supply transformer also is Red Blue Yellow / Brown Grey Black

I had a meter go on fire on Arran nine years ago, fortunately the meter / cut out was in a small brick built outbuilding rather than occupied space.

Hi! Loving the content. just woundering what you think and if you had any advice Doing a rewire and asked my customer to contact the DNO and ask the for a isolator to be fitted and also to replace the head due to it being a very old one with a porcelain fuse carrier which is fine however the issue I have with it is it has a 100amp fuse feeding the meter with 16mm tails which has had three strands cut out to get it in the terminal as they are too small now I would like to install 25mm tails to my new board hense the isolator. Also exposed terminals on the incoming side of the supply.customer told the the person on the phone this and they said the head is ok it doesn't need changing and if you want a isolator fitted it will be £200 thanks

I can see the sense behind many of these C2s, but what happens when the DNO refuses to do anything about it, and the landlord legally must carry out remedial work within 28 days on an unsatisfactory EICR?

You were saying about in a meter box and interference. We were in a well-known hospital in Northampton and we're using 2-way radio's to isolate final circuits and the 2way radios were tripping the Memshild 2 RCBO's (type AC) when we replaced the D.B with Memshild 3 this didn't happen. It is not until you see it you realise regarding influences.

A small input here that probably isnt a new one a different colour for a C3 should have been chosen....maybe im missing something but not a colour id pick for a potential problem sorry
